Norm,
As Linda pointed out there were a couple of conversations taking place, my response to Lynda was based upon your message as it was addressed to her.
You state, "I am afraid that I am not so dismissive of any writer's efforts at any level. Maybe being a writer myself explains that sensitivity."
I wear many different hats and one of them is that of a publisher and I do dismiss many writers efforts as pure tripe. When it comes to E-Books I dismiss even more. My point was that should a person not be qualified to tell the difference between knowledgable work and more of the same crap, then they could easily pick what many others might consider to be good, while it isn't, in an attempt to make some fast cash. Doing the wrong thing for the sake of profit is never a good idea.
In the publishing industry there are many people that THINK they know how to write and that they have written the next masterpiece, this just is not the case. They do not get the proper edting done, they don't in many cases even get the book properly formatted or even proofread for that matter.
As you say you are not an expert on E-Books, nor am I, but I am an expert, so to speak, at working on-line, as well as some what experienced as a publisher of print books. In my many years of working on-line I have seen far to many E-Books that are both a waste of time and money and someone just doing a Google search to try and pick some to sell while they themselves have no expertise in that area, is not a good idea.
Now Lynda has landed a job and for her that is more than likely the best news she has had in a long time. I am very pleased for her, so at this point I can consider the matter as closed.
