Does anyone else REALLY find this interesting?
Most definitely. Especially when it comes to talking about expressions used in various parts of the world. We have some strange ones where I'm from (Newfoundland Canada) Such as:
"Stay where your to til I comes where you're at!"
Translation: Stay there, I'll come to you. or how about:
"Slick as a snot on a chicken's lip"
Translation: Sly or slippery.

Forumites... In Oz, when somebody asks us if we are busy, if we are, we say: "I'm flat out like a lizard drinkin'" Staying with reptiles: When remarking about a crook we say: "That bloke's lower than a snake's belly." Gary

How about these ones:
"If I 'ad a face da likes o yers, me son, I'd walk back'rds.
Even had one that made it to hollywood!
"First star to the right and straight on til morning."
(Kirk's final word from Star Trek VI)

Dear Gary, that's great thanks - I am also certain it would be the latter as his wife was known as 'Dee'. Could you let me have the number and I will get in touch and find out. Cheers, Norm
