Howdy Cheri! ================== "Couldn't reply to this all day...kept getting an error." ================== Yep. They must have changed some of the parameters of the website. That happened to me too until I figured out that you have to keep logging on. There must be a new "time out" function. You can't respond until the system identifies you. I guess they did it when they made all the other changes like the new look of the forums. ==================== "Not wanting to beat a dead horse..." ==================== Nah - kick the nag. The more of us who object to this the more educated some of these trash-peddlers will be. I'm sick of them. (As if you can't tell!) ==================== "I was talking about the people who haven't been here long enough to be warned about these things, not the repeat offenders." ==================== Common sense should tell people that before you start marketing your wares you should do some MARKET RESEARCH - or at least read what the forum is about. ==================== "So, I'll go look at your review because I read the DaVinci Code and am seldom pleased with the movie if I've previously read the book." ==================== Me too, usually. But you will see my reasons for the "form reversal" at my review on Dave Cottrel's forum. =================== "Replied to your penultimate post, because if you replied to Dawn's, your last post and anything tagged to it is gonna disappear when Linda deletes Dawn's. Dawn, if you're still here, please read the description of this forum, referencing Linda's rule." =================== I actually hope Linda leaves it there. Sometimes she does - as an example of what not to do. Plus it adds weight to what I have been saying. Dawn, dear, if you come back here - we are not picking on you per se. It's just that what you did was symptomatic of what most marketeers do - and why most of us complain about it. Maybe when others do it to you then you might either ignore such an approach or get annoyed yourself. Some people seem to think that you can just make a marketing style "air raid," drop your payload then fly out and expect everybody to want your goodies. It doesn't work that way. Never did. Never will. So many of the spammy emails that I get flogging this, that and everything else are hopeless. Half the time I have no idea what they are trying to do EXCEPT flog me something. The product is obscure and gives me less than ZERO reason to be interested. That is because it imposes on my time with poorly presented JUNK that I don't need and don't want then I have to delete it. Ahhh Cheri - you fired me up again. On the DaVinci Code - go and see it. It's worth a look just to see what all the hullabaloo is about. Prepare yourself for some sordid early scenes though. Maybe check out what a (corporal motification) cilice is before you go. It's pretty gaggy stuff - and in the movie it is quite graphic. Gary

Gary, Thought it may have to do with the request to 'stress' the system by posting as much and as often as possible. Time-out period has always been a mystery to me. Sometimes long, sometimes short. I liked this description: ===================== Some people seem to think that you can just make a marketing style "air raid," drop your payload then fly out and expect everybody to want your goodies. It doesn't work that way. Never did. Never will. ===================== Perfect mental picture of what's happening with this stuff. At least some people have the grace to invite you to be a friend while they're doing it. What really ticks me off is the private emails from someone I've never 'met'. I used to reply back to them with a suggestion to come to Linda's forum and a couple of others to see how to do it, but no time now. Just delete. I accept the friends requests without comment, in the hope that they will visit my forums when I invite new friends, and get a clue there. If they never do, I delete forum invitations from them and eventually use the 'mute' function. RE: DaVinci Code. I know what that is, thanks for the warning. Don't much like the gory stuff in movies. Don't spend much time watching movies any more, either. But will take your recommendation as coming from someone whose opinion I value. Will probably wait until hullabaloo dies down. Cheri

Hi Cheri, First, thanks for that nice comment in the second last sentence of your last post (I was gonna say the penultimate sentence of your ultimate post - LOL!) Regarding the mental picture - that is just what flashes past my "mind screen" when people do this. Ever seen the movie "Tora, Tora, Tora?" heh... it's like that! ==================== "What really ticks me off is the private emails from someone I've never 'met'. I used to reply back to them with a suggestion to come to Linda's forum and a couple of others to see how to do it, but no time now. Just delete." ==================== Yep. I get heaps of them too - buy, join, buy, join, buy, join... blah, blah, blah! Now, I just look at the name and if it is not somebody like yourself - or someone else whose opinion I value - I don't even waste my time going to the PM panel. Far too many people are disrespecting this service. As usual, the fools and the totally misguided are messing it up for everybody. Concerning movies - I watch a lot of them. Though I must say that I don't enjoy all that many. For some reason most of the endings are really poor. Actually, the way the DaVinci Code ended with one of the characters just standing there was pretty weak too - BUT, the bit before it was really good. Too many movies are being pumped out of the movie houses for the sake of making a few dollars. And that tends to devalue all the movies. Gary

No, I never saw Tora Tora Tora. Funny thing, though. My ex-husband claims to have been in one of the crowd scenes. He was in the area when it was filmed, so it could be true. On the other hand, he fabricated more than he spoke truth, so who knows? Thanks in return for your comment. Cheri

Heh Cheri, Tora means tiger in Japanese. Maybe he was in that other movie: "Oushi, oushi, oushi!" Bull, bull, bull - LOL! There's certainly a lot of marketing oushi flung around here, that's for sure. Gary
