Like many others things, it is NOT that there are MORE (by percent of population) child molesters, spouse beaters, serial killers and drug users now than there was before. The difference is:
A. NOW we put it out in the open and talk about such things.
B. And now, our mass, world wide instant ability to communicate, means many many times more people are aware of these things.
Did you not study in history about the Opium Dens? Or the Heroin Trade?
As I have pointed out in other forums,
your chance of being killed by criminals were FIFTEEN times higher during the Middle Ages and NINE times higher during the Victorian period than your odds are today.
Also, drugs are easier to make now than ever before which certainly does not help.
And as far as religion being a positive influence,
GIVE ME A BREAK!
9-11 is a result of religion. The bombing's in Spain, England, Egypt, Bali and all around the world are a result of religion.

The Inquisition, when MILLIONS of MOSTLY WOMEN and CHILDREN were
Tortured and Murdered was the result of religion.
