A Daily Spiritual Practice
4/6/2006 4:09:08 PM
Hello friends, Years ago when I heard someone say "meditation" I thought it was this complicated process that required me to go into some altered state where you practically float and that it took great concentration and skill. So I avoided learning about meditation. I know now that I can meditate for 30 seconds at a red light and it is beneficial to me. As Wayne Dyer says, "There is always someone to let you know when the light turns green!" Thankfully, I realize now that I DO have a spiritual practice - when I gaze at the stars in appreciation for their beauty... when I watch my two little chihuahuas play as they draw me into the "now"... when I walk up and down my driveway for exercise, listening to a CD by Louise Hay... when I sit at a campsite with my husband and use my creativity to create my simple fork & spoon (and beads) windchimes - http://www.ForkAndSpoonWindchimes.com - which bring me such joy. In Louise Hay's book, "You Can Heal Your Life," she says that she thanks her bed each morning for a good night's sleep. That is part of a spiritual practice. So, I know now that I don't have to compile some complicated list of practices and routines that I do every day. I can keep doing what I'm doing and know that I DO have a spiritual practice... and I can add 60 seconds or 5 minutes of meditation or gratitude or a personal visualization slowly and on my own terms. One of the first guided meditation programs I found was Dr. Robert Anthony's Rapid Manifestation Program. He offers a free email course too that I highly recommend! Do you have a spiritual practice?

Hi, Linda, I suppose you could call some of the things I do - spiritual actions. I speak to my wife daily by telephone. I always say a silent 'thank you' when I wake in the morning. I always take the time, each day, to contact the person I have not spoken to for the longest time. I make sure that I listen to the same, favourite radio programmes as my wife so we are connected through that medium. I always spend time just appreciating what is around me when I am walking with my dogs. Man is a spiritual being and, like our physical bodies, our spiritual bodies need sustenance - and it comes, as you so rightly say, in small doses all through the day and from some truly unexpected quarters. Regards

Hi Linda, Yes, all of the items listed above are OK except the first one> "I know now that I can meditate for 30 seconds at a red light and it is beneficial to me." Are you trying to kill youself and others, think about it, I would never in my wildest dreams ever meditate at a RED LIGHT. You're asking for trouble and INJURY to others. Meditation for 30 or even 10 seconds at a RED LIGHT is very dangerous, not to mention inappropriate and Self Defeating. DO YOU DRIVE and DO you have a drivers License??? Are people afraid to step up and tell you what is REAL in life and what imaginations are. It seems that you want all to agree with your cut and paste ideas. I saw how you scolded one of our Adlanders yesterday. This is a free world and he was and is giving his opinion, isn't that what you want when you post here, why not just delete him and all of us that always seem to say negative things. YOU said to him yesterday. "All I hear is negative things coming from you, etc, etc." SO what, let him voice his opinions, you know who I'm talking about, right?? Ok enough of that, please don't spank my hand for telling you this my friend. ------------------------------------------- Place a FREE AD on me: http://FreeAdTraffic.com Get TONS of Traffic with this FREEBIE: http://www.20millionhits.com/servlet/index20?member=1ezbiz

Hi, Linda: Thanks a million for this thread, I was just wondering how to spread the word about a course zeroing in on using your mind in creative ways, assisting in healing and remote communication. It teaches simple techniques allowing to meditate in the alpha state ( deeper then the regular beta that we use for running our daily lives) for even a few minutes. Visualization and affirmations are incomparably more effective when accessing this deeper level of mind. Many contemporary leaders of spiritual evolvement, such as Wayne Dyer, Richard Bach, Shakti Gawain and several others are graduates of this course, which you can access at http://www.SilvaUltramMindsystem.com The organization offers seminars, a course on CD and a free one online, which includes a relaxation/meditation download. There is also a yahoo group providing support for beginners and advanced alike. On lesson 5 of the online course ( 9 lessons spaced 2 days apart) I can already confirm some very good results, it is an excellent addition and assist in my other spiritual practices. My Gratitude again, Linda, for opening up this subject. Let the good times roll! Izabel
