Gloria to God:
I think I am the luckiest person in the world. I wake up in the morning and have You to correspond with. That is worth getting up for!
God:
Yes. To enjoy life is worth getting up for. To engage life, not to assault it or avoid it, but live it. Do you see how you have dodged life often?
Gloria:
And totally run in the other direction!
God:
Now that style is gone. Now you are forthright. You stand right up to life. You meet it, greet it, invited it. You walk up to it and say, "Come right in, Life. Happy to see you."
You have an assignation with life. Life is your lover. What will he bring you today? Where will he take you? Where will he lead you? Whom will he introduce you to? What ideas will he give you? What will he ask of you?
This is a certain lover who will appear tomorrow whether you are awake or no.
This is a versatile lover. Tomorrow he is new, and dreams a new dream with you.
He is a fantasy lover because he is the result of your past dreams and your present awareness.
He is a silent lover who pulls you along without a word, without a say-so, without a backward glance.
He is an assertive lover. He blindfolds you and drives you to an unexpected spot.
He is a generous lover. He offers you sun and rain, scorch and drought, and snow and winds and frigid fields. He offers you store windows and parades and solitude.
Your lover is a musician, a dancer, an auctioneer. He is a pirate and a benefactor. He is a millionaire and an athlete. He hits home runs and tennis balls and plays tiddly winks and solitaire.
Your lover is a champion. He is always victorious and thanks you for your accompaniment.
He is wild. He is joyous. He is patient. He is kind. He makes you laugh, and he makes you cry.
He gives you ice cream and lollipops and romance novels and comic strips. He beats you at poker. He lets you win at gin.
He is what he is, ever-changing but not at your whim. Every energetic and ever playful, he escorts you through himself.
"Here I am," he says, "just as I am. Take me as I am, and run with me through fields of flowers and haystacks and motel rooms and cars. Fly with me and trip with me. I am fit for Kings and fit for paupers, and I am fit for you. I am your day which is your life in increments.
"My first name is Day, and my second name is Life. And I am also called Adventure, Development, Exercise, Practice, Unfolder, Researcher, and Gift.
"I am your lover, and I show up every day. I am faithful to you in my fashion, and I am also every living soul's lover.
"Do you still love me, take me as I come, appreciate me, swing with me, press my hand, kiss me goodnight, and wait for me in the still dark morning? Will you jump out of bed to see me from your window? Will you welcome me or put your head under the pillow?
"Will you elope with me and see where we go and how far we get?
"Will you be mine? I am yours, your lover by day and by night, ever yours, ever for you like a blanket on the picnic ground, ever put there for you to frolic on.
"I am your day, and you are my participant. I am your canvas, and you are my artist. I am your piano, and you are my musician. I am your pool, and you are my swimmer. I am your garden, and you are my flower. I am your ladder, and you are my climber.
"The ladder of me reaches to Heaven. Welcome to today. Thanks for coming.
"Love, your everloving Day, you everlovin' Life."
Gloria to Mother Divine:
Dear Mother Divine, and how do you view life?
Mother Divine:
Life is a chewy bagel given to you. You have to bite into it and pull it. You spread on it what you will, cream cheese, lox, butter, jam. You see, it is your bagel, and everything is there for you to put on it. It is complete except for you.
A bagel is a bagel, whatever you do with it. Toast it. Freeze it. Watch it. Store it. Toss it. Play games with it. It is your bagel.
And every day you get a new one. How lovely is a bagel.
A Course in Miracles, Lesson 315:
"All gifts my brothers give belong to me. I thank You, Father, for the many gifts that come to me today and every day from every Son of God. My brothers are unlimited in all their gifts to me."
Gloria to God:
Dear God, what will You say?
God:
The examples of Me in My Sons inspire you to Me. My Sons lift you to Me. Each one lifts however they may. Karen lifts high. Some give little nudges. Some help you see where you are. Some make you strong. And some come with you into My arms.
Later…
Gloria to God:
Dear God, what would You like to tell me tonight?
God:
You are Mine. You are My gift to Myself.
Gloria:
Thank You! I saw Godspell today. It's been so long since I've seen it. It was as precious as I remember. Somebody knew what they were doing when they made that.
God:
I think it was I.
Gloria to Mother Divine:
Dear Mother Divine, what would you like to say?
Mother Divine:
God's spell is in everything. It is His love. It permeates everything. It restores you to truth. Stay a spell with God.
Gloria to God:
Dearest God, I am feeling anxiety.
God:
You know what to do. Give Me your anxiety, and I give you release from it. I am your Releaser. Your Heavenly Releaser. Your only Releaser.
A Course in Miracles, Lesson 316:
"All gifts I give my brothers are my own. Father, I would accept Your gifts today. I do not recognize them. Yet I trust that You who gave them will provide the means by which I can behold them, see their worth, and cherish only them as what I want."
Gloria:
This anxiety is a gift?
God:
Even that is a gift. What does it do for you?
Gloria:
It humbles me. It lets me know —
God:
It lets you know that anxiety is nothing but anxiety! It reminds you to look to Me and put your faith in Me and not in a paycheck or adulation of the world. It keeps you in line.
I do not wish anxiety for you. In truth you do not need it.
Gloria:
Anxiety must be a form of control.
God:
Certainly. Life has not boxed itself as think it ought, and this shakes your very timbers. Know that life is unfolding very well. You learn to let go of life. No longer is it hands-on for you. Now it is hands-off for you. Ride with Me. Vacation with Me. That is freedom.
