Hundreds of Obama’s sons and daughters fight in downtown Berkeley

Berkeley, California, is one of the most leftist cities in America. Although blacks comprise only 8% of the city’s population, they approach 50% of the city’s public schools because — get this — the schools import blacks from neighboring cities, especially crime-infested Oakland.

Why?

Federal money, of course.

Last Friday afternoon, May 9, 2014, hundreds of Obama’s sons and daughters from twopublic schools converged in downtown Berkeley for a street fight, which necessitated the deployment of 22 police officers, at great cost to city finances and tax payers.

It was not the first such incident. According to Lt. David Frankel of the Berkeley Police Department (BPD), there have been two previous Fridays of what he described as “rambunctious” behavior.

Only in cowered Amerika is street-fighting (by BLACKS and blacks only) casually minimized as mere “rambunctious” behavior.

In the following report by Lance Knobel for Berkeleyside, whenever you see the words “high schoolers,” “students,” “youth,” “teenagers” and “kids,” just substitute those words with “blacks” because, as you can see with your own eyes in the photos (by Siciliana Trevino) and a video taken at the scene, the rioters were overwhelmingly “African American.”

~Eowyn

Berkeley3Berkeley4Berkeley1Berkeley5The police had received reports that some confrontations were expected between Berkeley High and B-Tech students.

Today’s confrontations, however, spiraled into a series of fights and other disruptive behavior by students.

Two Berkeley High students were arrested and released to their parents, one for punching someone, the other for resisting arrest and disturbing the peace. A student from an Oakland charter school was also arrested for battery via pepper spray, Frankel said. He said Berkeley High staff had been helping police.

There was no information of property damage.

“This turned into groups of people wanting to fight each other,” Frankel said. It wasn’t, he explained, a riot where property damage was an aim.

Frankel said the police had several uncooperative victims of pepper spray.

Berkeley police deployed 22 officers to handle the incidents this afternoon and evening. No pepper spray or batons were used by Berkeley police. Frankel said the cost of the police deployment was “sucking the city dry.”

Frankel said that police are encouraging parents of Berkeley high school students to “come home directly after school.” Even students that were spectators to the incidents contributed to the difficult atmosphere, he said.

Update, 7:20 p.m. Berkeley Police reported the presence of a group of 40-50 youthdowntown, with a fight reported in the area of Shattuck Avenue and Blake Street. Police are responding. The incident is on-going.

Original post, 6:39 p.m. A series of fights and scuffles broke out in Berkeley’s downtownFriday afternoon between groups of teenagers. According to some eyewitness reports, the incidents were largely fights between students from Berkeley High School and Berkeley Technology Academy, also known as B-Tech.

“I saw extreme chaos,” said Erin Griffin, manager of NextSpace, a co-working facility on Center Street where Berkeleyside rents space. “There were hundreds of kids.”

A large contingent of Berkeley Police officers responded to the violence. Some people were pepper sprayed as police tried to quell the chaos. (Update, 10:50 p.m., The pepper spray was used by someone involved in the scuffles, not by the police. There was an arrest made for the use of pepper spray.) At least one juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the station, according to unconfirmed police scanner traffic.

“It was real mayhem,” said Siciliana Trevino, an advertising executive on Berkeleyside, who was downtown in the midst of the violence. “There were kids running, some with their shirts off. There was a girl crying. I overheardsomeone say there were chairs flying. It looked like some people were still looking for a fight.”

According to Trevino, Berkeley police were filming all the kids coming out of thedowntown BART station. Some eyewitnesses said there had been fighting inside the station. Trevino and Griffin witnessed the chaos from around 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., when they said things seemed to have calmed down, at least temporarily.

Griffin used her iPhone to shoot a video of some of the disturbances on the corner of Shattuck and Kittredge:

A reader initially alerted Berkeleyside to the fracas just before 4 p.m.: “My 11th-grader told me that there was supposed to be a large fight between BHS kids and some kids from another high school,” he wrote via email. “Not sure if it happened, or if there was fallout.”

Police said at that time that no altercation had been found, though there had been a rumor that students from Berkeley High and B-Tech would fight. Authorities deployed a “heavy police presence” downtown to keep an eye on the situation.

About half an hour later, Trevino said she saw apparent problems brewing outside Berkeley High, where she watched police separate a girl from another group. Officers were also recording people in the area.

Before we get to what brought this thought on, chew on this one for a moment.

Social Security Has “A Large and Growing Surplus”

May 31, 2013ks.org
Altman is co-director of Social Security Works, which today released an analysis of the Social Security Trustees report titled “Strengthen Social Security, Don’t Cut it: Key Points about the 2013 Social Security Trustees Report” [PDF].

The group states: “Today’s report from the Social Security Trustees shows that our Social Security system has a large and growing surplus. Unlike the banks, which nearly brought the economy to ruin, Social Security didn’t need a bailout. Its surplus has grown year after year, even during the Great Recession. The result of decades of foresight and planning, its cumulative surplus is projected to be $2.8 trillion in 2013, growing to $2.9 trillion by 2020. Social Security does not and cannot contribute to the deficit. Social Security will take in more money than it pays out, roughly $28 billion more in 2013. Social Security has a large surplus in 2013 because it has more than enough income from its three sources of revenue to cover its expenses — payroll contributions, interest payments on the $2.8 trillion invested in U.S. Treasury bonds and taxation of benefits. …

“Social Security financing can be improved and made more fair by closing the payroll tax loophole for high income earners. Congress should raise the Social Security payroll tax cap so that the 6 percent of workers who make more than $113,700 a year contribute on all of their wages just like everyone else.

“Also, currently modest annual benefits averaging $15,200 can be improved. Tom Harkin (D-IA) has introduced legislation that would expand Social Security benefits; and the centrist New America Foundation has proposed increasing Social Security benefits by $11,669 per year. They know it’s time to expand, not cut, Social Security!” http://www.accuracy.org/release/social-security-has-a-large-and-growing-surplus/

Now that is squared away let's get to this story where all these "I know better than you" government representatives and the elected corruptible are saying. The claim our SS is an Entitlement like Welfare or something and it is not. Thank you very much Mr. Rubio! https://www.facebook.com/heritagefoundation/posts/10152401306719481

Saving for Retirement -- Without the Government

We can all agree that it’s good for Americans to save for retirement. But should the government expand from providing old-age entitlement benefits to controlling personal retirement investments as well?

Whether you want to or not, we’re forced to pay into Social Security and Medicare. But today’s working Americans don’t have the guarantee that these programs will be there to carry us through retirement. Why? The taxes we’re paying now are supporting today’s retirees – not tomorrow’s. And Congress may change the benefits, especially since these programs are significantly underfunded.

Ideally, we would have the option to save our own money in the way we want – and government programs would be the safety net they were supposed to be, to protect America’s vulnerable from poverty.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is speaking out on this critical issue of financial security. He is spot on that our entitlement programs, namely Social Security and Medicare, cannot continue as they are. They won’t last for another generation at the benefit levels people have become accustomed to.

He suggested last week that for those who don’t have a retirement plan offered through their employers, perhaps they should be able to join the retirement plan that federal workers (including members of Congress) have.

It’s called the Thrift Savings Plan, and millions of Americans in Congress, the federal workforce and the military invest through it. It is an attractive investment because its massive size and government subsidies keep its fees low. As Heritage expert Romina Boccia explains, “the costs of employee education, administrative processing and collecting are borne by the taxpayer.”

The Thrift Savings Plan is the right type of plan for retirement investing – but Boccia saysanother government-controlled plan isn’t the place to put the millions of American workers who don’t have their own employer-sponsored retirement accounts. Heritage has advocated anAuto-IRA (individual retirement account) that would help get more people saving.

“Unlike a [Thrift Savings Plan] expansion, the Auto-IRA is structured to promote competition with more, not fewer, employer plans,” says Boccia, the Grover M. Hermann Fellow. “This would give Americans more options – and better options – for retirement savings.”

Heritage experts have said that it would be helpful to extend automatic-enrollment IRAs to those who don’t have this kind of option at work right now.

“Automatic enrollment is a key part of the Automatic IRA because it especially helps those groups who are most likely to undersave: women, minorities, younger workers, and low- to moderate-income workers,” wrote retirement security expert David John. Plans could be “structured so that they can be combined and rolled over from one employment situation to another as the saver progresses through his or her career.”

This would be a win-win for workers. And it would move retirement savings back into our pockets and away from government-managed programs.

I agree with the Heritage Foundation, put our money in an Auto-IRA that we can tap as we need to, it is our money after all. Jim Allen III (Hi-TEK-Redneck-Marketer)

Now the guys wanting to run all your health care shares this little gem.

Lerner e-mails likely gone forever, IRS claims, as hard drive was “thrown away”

POSTED AT 10:41 AM ON JUNE 19, 2014 BY ED MORRISSEY

Old and busted: “The dog ate our e-mails.” New hotness: “The dog ate our e-mails, so we put him down.” The IRS announced last night — after a subpoena from House Oversight chair Darrell Issa — that Lois Lerner’s hard drive had been either “thrown away” or recycled, which means at least for the moment that none of her interagency e-mails can be recovered:

“We’ve been informed that the hard drive has been thrown away,” Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the top Republican on the Finance Committee, said in a brief hallway interview.

Two additional sources told POLITICO the same late Wednesday, citing IRS officials.

It may just be standard government procedure, but the revelation is significant because some lawmakers and observers thought there was a way that tech experts could revive Lerner’s emails after they were washed away in a computer crash in the summer of 2011. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), for example, subpoenaed her damaged hard drive earlier this week, when he asked for “all hard drives, external drives, thumb drives and computers” and “all electronic communication devices the IRS issued to Lois G. Lerner.”

“IT experts have weighed in and said yes — we can get those” emails, said Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.) earlier Wednesday.

The latest news suggests such professionals may never get the chance to try again — and the IRS has even said its criminal investigators who specialize in rebuilding hard drives to recover hidden information from criminals were unable to restore the data back in 2011. But this is only likely to further enrage Republicans, who are fuming over the matter and suspect Washington officials drove the selective scrutiny.

Eliana Johnson reports the same at NRO:

In the wake of the news that a computer crash destroyed over two years’ worth of Lois Lerner’s emails, House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa on Tuesday subpoenaed her hard drive. Unfortunately, according to a source in the IRS’ IT department, that subpoena is unlikely to turn up much.

As a matter of practice, says the source, the IRS discards damaged hard drives after wiping them of all data. ”If we can run them, we have to wipe them,” he says. If they will not run, the agency destroys them completely by magnetically degaussing them.

In both cases, the damaged hard drives are disposed of. “You’re not supposed to keep them around,” the source says. “You destroy the data.”

What. A. Coincidence! Much of Lerner’s intra-agency e-mail correspondence (that is, within the IRS) has been reconstituted through searches of others’ e-mails. However, Issa and Ways and Means chair Dave Camp specifically wanted the communications between Lerner and others outside the IRS — especially any potential e-mails between Lerner and the Department of Justice and the White House. Those e-mails, if they existed, might tend to shed some light on who ordered Lerner to conduct extra scrutiny of conservative tax-exempt applicants, and how high up the coordination went.

Without backups or the drives, those communications have been lost. Unless Lerner testifies, which she has so far refused to do, or unless the House subpoenas all executive-branch e-mails, they’re likely lost forever.

Ron Fournier has a question for editors:

That’s also the main theme of my column today at The Fiscal Times. Forty years ago, aggressive media investigation into executive-branch abuse of power — including the use of the IRS against political opponents — forced the only resignation of a US President in history. Today, the media seems a lot more interested in whether an obvious abuse of power against an administration’s political opponents has a high Q-rating, or whether we should give the IRS even more resources after this scandal:

Missing tapes? Abuse of power? It’s 1974 all over again, with one exception – there seems to be no Woodward and Bernstein interested in delving into an abuse of power and a cover-up. …

With all of these red flags and roadblocks on transparency, one might think that the media might start getting a little more interested in the scope of this abuse of power. Instead, the only curiosity appears to be whether this all means that the IRS should get even more money in its budget, because tape backups for more than six months apparently breaks the bank in an agency that gets $11.3 billion in the FY2014 budget. …

Perhaps the hue and cry over the lost funding will finally start to interest the media forty years after their tenacity over abuse of executive power forced accountability on a corrupt administration.

Unfortunately, a lot has changed since Watergate – and a lot hasn’t.

The IRS has a high stink rating in terms of corruption and cover-up, and perhaps an even higher stink rating among the media for their disinterest in the ridiculous excuses coming from this administration in their attempt to stonewall Congress.

College Socialist Club Shows How ‘Tolerant’ They’d Act If They Were in Charge

(Content Warning: Obscene Language & Gestures)

The International Socialist Organization at Portland State University tried to eject and then verbally assaulted a conservative blogger who was legally videotaping their public event. As Campus Reform reports, Dan Sandini attended the meeting in order to videotape it. The socialists then called campus police to try and have him removed.
