I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. Try not to hold malice against your family for not calling you on the phone, maybe there were other reasons for not calling. Someone should have tried, it's good to hear a voice of a relative, even if people don't always get along, hearing someone sometimes has a good emotional impact. I hope your family decides to stay in touch with you more often, losing one sometimes makes everyone else get closer to each other.

There was a TV news story a few months ago about a woman here in Grand Rapids who panhandles during the day while her young daughter is at school, and she says she does well with getting food, she goes door-to-door asking for food and always gets plenty. Maybe USA should do away with welfare and just go back to the olden days when people have to go out looking for a way to live every day, there are plenty of people who are willing to give a little, we just don't want it pulled out of our taxes to anonymous lumps who have bigscreen TVs and $150 sneakers and plenty of cigarettes.

Kathleen I am from the old school where people didn't get out and beg and it makes me very uncomfortable to see someone lower themselves to doing this. Since there is no longer the stigma attached to this sort of behavior as there once was, now a days people seem to have no problem doing it. I've read other stories about people who panhandle which is just another word for begging and they make a lot of money because for the most part we are a compassionate nation of people who have always been ready and willing to help and it's these very parasites who probably stop people from giving to someone who may really need it. What ever happened to self respect? It seems a lot of people have lost that and I am assuming since this woman has a child in school she is still young enough and able bodied enough to get a job instead of taking from someone who earned what she's begging from them.

More people should visit the library on a daily basis and use the free computers to earn a free living online. Why don't they? Some companies such as Clickbank will pay by check by postal mail, and people can go to a check-cashing place if they don't have a bank account. People need to know what's available to them online for free. Lots of people are not aware of the massive amounts of ways to earn online, and they don't always need to get paid by online payment processor. Libraries are free, there should be a lot more adults using library computers. The reason they don't is...the mass media doesn't say anything about internet work-from-home jobs, the mass media is still trying to push everyone to spend $10,000's on going to college and then wait for someone else to hire them. People need to stop waiting and really start DOING for themselves. If all they know HOW to do is panhandle, it's time for the media (who KNOWS about internet earning) to educate the general public that it IS possible to earn money for free online at the library. Maybe the media doesn't know it, maybe someone needs to tell the media so word can get out there.
