That's crazy!
Remember the olden days when libraries would continue to rack up late fees, such as on an episode of Seinfeld when one of them forgot to return a book for 25 years?
Libraries don't do that anymore, at least our local library doesn't.
My exhusband returned an overdue book about 10 yrs ago and they charged him $12 for being several years late, because it was lost and then found somewhere in the house. Maybe that was the maximum.
Then last year, I took in a book that was a few months overdue and the same library only charged me $1. They said the daily is 25 cents but they stop at $1 because they want the books returned and don't want people to be afraid to bring in late books, and don't want people to freak out about a late fee.
Quote: my daughter's school gave me a notice on an overdue library book which my daughter tried to turn in but it was during when the book fair was going on and she asked her teacher if she could turn the book in on the day it was due and she was told no. well the notice said if she don't turn it in by this Friday she will get detention for 3 weeks. I posted a reply note that first I am turning it first thing tomorrow and second the detention , ISS (in School Suspension) or OSS ( out of school suspension) is never allowed for my daughter these punishments are against my permission.
