Some are a wee bit out-there, but most smart people are very sensible, probably from all those deliberate non-mistakes!

Back to music...I wish Kenny Rogers hadn't messed up his original face with plastic surgery.

Why do famous people make THAT ridiculous choice, to mess up their faces? Such as the actresses Meg Ryan and Lauren Holly, bad cosmetic surgeries, along with the new and NOT improved Kenny Rogers.

I know, Kathleen, and Dolly has had numerous surgeries too. Don't know how true it is but I heard she had two lower ribs removed to make her waist smaller. If that is true I fail to see how that would help. Heavens I had a 22" waist when I was younger but like everything else, it changed over time, but too I weighed much less than I do now and I'll never see those lightweight days again either. LOL!

Hi Kathleen,
Agreed, I hate it when you hear a condescending tone about 'the little woman' or some other trite comment, which has nothing to do with general manners or even coming under the women's lib either..
and even in Hollywood the female stars have complained for years they do not get paid as much as the males and they do the same acting etc.
Dolly has often said in her interviews how she came to own her personal Trashy look and also to look this trashy costs a lot of money! *grin*.. There was a woman whom was always dressed up and with makeup on - Dolly's mother said she was of loose morals or similar but Dolly said she wanted to be like her..there was something about this woman that appealed to her and I reckon Dolly saw on the inside not the outside - she also said she had no idea if this woman was of loose morals, but I am guessing back in the day women did not go to town with make up on as it was frowned upon.
Dolly has been the only person that I know who could pull her look off and it suits her to a T, because she is the exact opposite of the outside she wears. She is very bright and business savvy, very witty and quick thinking, can make fun of herself in songs and interviews, has such a big heart and many many more positives.
Now, I would just like her to leave her face alone no more cosmetic tuneups and age gracefully as I really do not like her new face, but I do love her spirit.

The terms "dumb blond" and "airhead" are not usually said about men. There's too much gender-bias out there that goes unnoticed, taken for granted not to be noticed.

There's no way of seeing peoples' intelligence level by their appearance, so many people judge or are judged by appearance or personality traits, or sound of voice/accent or physical demeanor, or where they're from and those things have nothing to do with intelligence.

Evelyn, thanks for sharing these two. Islands in the Stream has been a favourite and I remember Line Dancing to this song which was also a lot of fun.
Kenny also had work done on his face that messed up his eyes, that hardly even looks like him now.. he along with many other men whom have had work done would have been better to just age gracefully or find a different surgeon!

Amanda since you enjoy Dolly and Kenny Rogers, here are a couple of their duets I think you will enjoy, and since I know you like to see the lyrics too, I've also included them. :)

Islands In The Stream
Baby when I met you
there was peace unknown
I set out to get you
with a fine tooth comb
I was soft inside
there was somethin' going on
You do something to me
that I can't explain
Hold me closer and I feel no pain
Every beat of my heart
We got somethin' goin on
Tender love is blind
It requires a dedication
All this love we feel
Needs no conversation
We ride it together, ah-ah
Makin' love with each other, ah-ah
(chorus)
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between
How can we be wrong?
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah
I can't live without you
if the love was gone
Everything is nothin'
if you got no one
And you did walk in tonight
slowly losing sight of the real thing
But that wont happen to us
and we got no doubt
Too deep in love and
we got no way out
and the message is clear
This could be the year
for the real thing
No more will you cry
Baby I will hurt you never
We start and end as one
in love forever
We can ride it together, ah-ah
Makin' love with each other, ah-ah
(chorus)
Sail away
Oh come sail away with me, with me
(chorus)

We Got Tonight - Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers
I know it's late I know you're weary
I know your plans don't include me
still here we are both of us lonely
longing for shelter from all that we
see why should we worry no one'll
care look at the stars so far away
we've got tonight who needs tomorrow
we've got tonight babe why don't you stay
deep in my soul I've been so lonely
all of my hopes fading away I've long for
love like everyone else does but I may
stop searching after today so there it is, girl
I've said it all now and here we are
what do you say we've got tonight
who needs tomorrow we've got tonight
babe why don't you stay I know it's
late I know you're weary I know your
plans don't include me still here we
are both of us lonely both of us lonely
we got tonight who needs tomorrow
let's make it last let's find away turn
out the light come take my hand now
we got tonight babe why don't you stay

Dolly was one of the stars whom I watched on TV then she co hosted with Kenny Rogers in another series.
She had my admiration from way back and since being on the computer have been able to watch more youtubes of her singing and in interviews about herself, read the positive uplifting things people say about her.

Also it seems the more intelligence or bordering on genius the less common sense they possess, especially in common tasks that the rest of us would accomplish without really even thinking about - It is like they are missing or have a wire shorted out in their brains that they just cannot comprehend such simple tasks.
Ever try having a simple conversation with someone like this? it is near impossible because they are 'way up there' and speaking in terms that the rest of us just cannot contribute or converse in.
There are also a vast amount of people around 35 and under whom have really been really affected through the awful deliberately dumbing down America education program.

It's true Kathleen that most times you can't gauge a person's intelligence by their looks but then sometimes you can. One thing is certain though, most times you can gauge how much common sense they have by their appearance and their actions. Have you ever known a really intelligent person who had no common sense whatsoever? It's true "dumb blond" is usually said about women but I've also heard men called airheads too. And yes, there's still too much gender-bias and unfortunately probably always will be.
