RE: Mary Evelyn's Koffee Klatch

Mike I posted this a couple of days ago, don't know if you saw it, but in any case I'm reposting it. :)

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass..
'Step forward now, Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?'
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear..
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
'Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

It's the Soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us the freedom of the press.
It's the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.
It's the Soldier, not the politicians,
That ensures our right to Life, Liberty
and the Pursuit of Happiness..
It's the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and
appreciation for the Military, Pray for those who have
given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom....
If it weren't for the United States military,
there'd be NO United States of America .

SOMEONE HAS TO HOLD OUR COUNTRY IN THEIR HANDS
THESE COLORS DON'T RUN

Helen,
I am glad you picked up on this also that there was some vital information missing and sounded New Age to me.

Miguel, I loved the music.

Hi Luis

An interesting video. It almost sounds Christian in some parts ...like where you let the Divine live in and through you. That is what Jesus does when you invite him in. Jesus was and is God. It is Jesus who is "...the way, the truth and the life and no man comes unto the Father except through [Him]". If we don't grasp this, we are lost in the hereafter. It is important that we are on the right path and we are entering by the right gate. Jesus is referred to as a "gate" in some passages of the Bible.

God bless you

Helen

Hi Evelyn and friends,

This very inspiring and beautiful video is a good reminder of all that we can individually accomplish in the current most special planetary juncture. Some of you may have already watched it. Some of the ideas presented may seem far-fetched or beyond our personal beliefs, but we must not loose sight of the fact that while an infinitesimal part of God, we also have, inasmuch as created in His own image and likeness, infinite spiritual potentialities to be awakened and cultivated.

Hugs,

Miguel

10_1_136.gifHi Amanda,
I do apologize. I just don't believe that anyone who has to live in the streets or in Missions are proud of the fact, and the only reason that I put an emphasis on veteran's is because the majority of homeless are veteran's. I did what I had to do to survive, and it was all legal. Perhaps what hurts the most is the fact that I started work at 15, working for my parents for free, and always had some kind of job (or two) and had to take early retirement at 62 years old because I was only getting ten to twelve hours a week, while non American workers were getting thirty to thirty-five hours a week. I don't have a vehicle and I walk to get our meds or grocery, and basically can not get government help because they just don't care. I guess I just wonder whatever happened to the Justice and Liberty for all ? It does not matter how hard you or I fight for equality because our Governors and Senators will tell you anything that you want to hear but as I prepare a Turkey Neck soup for Shirley and I they will be dining on London Broil. There is not a single politician alive that has ever gone hungry or slept on a park bench, or had to walk to where he or she had to go. (By the way, the Turkey neck soup is for real)
I am sorry if I caused a ruckus but I believe that it is time that our country started taking care of people at home first, before people around the globe.
GOD BLESS YOU
~Mike~

Evelyn,
Thank you for your honesty as it means so much to me. I have to confess, in this forum I have not been as honest with you. As I should have trusted that you can accept differences of opinions. I have lied by omission because I did not want to disagree and have dissension within the forum. For this I apologize, we can agree to disagree and still be great friends.

Hello friends, instead of replying to everyone individually, I'm going to talk to each of you in this one post.
First Myrna, it's good to know that we share so much in common, but as you stated, there are things we don't see eye to eye on and that's ok, just goes to prove that even though we see some things differently we still have respect for each other and that is not only a sign of maturity but also a sign of true friendship.
The same goes for Amanda, we've been friends for a long time but there are certain issues we don't agree on and probably never will but the respect and friendship remains. That is the way it is supposed to be. As humans we all have different likes and dislikes and different view points and though we may not like it, we respect each other's right to have their own opinion.
As for Miguel, I have a great deal of respect for you as a person. You've always impressed me as a gentle person who means no harm to anyone and appears to like to be a peace maker, which is a good thing, but there are a few things we seem to hold different views on, but again, it does not diminish my respect for you. Actually, believe it or not, I can respect someone more for taking a stand for what they believe in, although it may be different than my beliefs, than I can someone who straddles the fence and never takes a stand on any issue or if they do, never let it be known.
And now for my good friend Helen, who has brought much joy to us here in this thread. I guess I'm included in the "old codger" group but I want to ask you something. It has only been in the last few years that we "old codgers" have learned of much of what has been transpiring in the political world, or at least that has been the case in my situation. Thanks to the Internet, we now know that we've been lied to and mislead by the MSM and our government, so how were most of us to know we should be calling or writing our representatives about something we knew nothing about? The MSM not only didn't bring us the true facts but they twisted things around to where they have an entirely different meaning and they shield a lot of the politicians in their wrong doing, but politically massacre those who they think will cast them in a well deserved bad light.
As most of you know, I am very opinionated and I make no excuses about believing the way I do on certain issues and I hold no ill will against anyone who has a different opinion than mine.
There are some wonderful people here in this online community that I feel blessed to be associated with and yes as humans, we're going to have different view points on some things and of course we all have human failings too.
I sincerely appreciate each of you.
Evelyn

Hello Mike,
First off, you did not cause a ruckus, please feel free to speak your feelings.
I did not mean to sound judgmental and I should have taken a little more time and thought of what I wrote, how it would be projected and perceived.
I totally agree, no one should have to live on the streets - I know there are some who really do prefer this for their own various reasons. But the majority would sooner have a home of their own.
I am so angry the more I learn about this New World Order that Bush Sr first mentioned back when he was the President and the way these people like George Soros etc etc Jon Causack who lost trillions and says he does not know where it went and does not get arrested for stealing, who are not even elected officials are manipulating the economy and the Govt is allowing new laws to be passed that takes our rights away while these criminals go free.
Corporate America has taken over all the business out of pure greed and squeezed the little guys out with impossible rules and regulations they have to fulfill that they cannot afford to stay open or if they try to sue they are tied up for months, years which costs them their homes and the very shirts off their backs.
The rich get richer and poor get poorer and did you realise there is hardly any middle class now.
I definitely agree that assistance and aid begins at home, but we do not even have many honest people in the christian organisations as their CEOs take huge paychecks home, the only one that I have seen that is actually helping people is the Salvation Army. These other charitable organisations should be totally ashamed of themselves.
