I don't know you, but on top of its sober, elegant beauty, this View of the Baltic by Caspar David Friedrich, painted in 1820-25, has an oneiric quality that mystifies me.

Hi Luis,

This painting is a mystery to me. Why would you put 2 canes(or whatever you call them) on a painting, and no person. Did the person disappear?

Hello Myrna,

You are right, it is sort of mysterious but I seem to remember reading something about a man who could not walk without the canes, who on seeing that church in the fog was miraculously healed and runned to it leaving them on the snow.

Thanks for noticing,

Miguel
