Another year almost gone; Goals vs Resolutions?
12/29/2005 1:33:55 AM
Hi: Put on your thinking cap, or climb up on your soapbox... I'm looking for opinions. There's only 3 days left in 2005 as I post this. 72 hours and another year is gone. Here's my first question; Do you think there is a difference between setting a goal and making a resolution? And; Do you have a business related goal you'd like to achieve in 2006? : ) Linda

Hi Linda, 1.Do you think there is a difference between setting a goal and making a resolution? Yes resolution is only a hope alway future and set time frame. A goal need to be set and acheivable. Un less it ia a long range goal, but it still have a time frame 5 year or 10 year. It will take many short range goals to get there. And; Do you have a business related goal you'd like to achieve in 2006? Yes my goal is to help more people this year than ever before in my life. In doing this I will fine tune my target market while increase in the size of my contact base. Happy New Year to you and your husband! Johnny

========================================= Do you think there is a difference between setting a goal and making a resolution? ========================================= Personally speaking I don't think there is any difference at all. Both require a plan and action to carry them out. ========================================= Do you have a business related goal you'd like to achieve in 2006? ========================================= I will be spending the rest of this week reviewing my business goals from last year and figuring out where I sit. Ideally though, the goal for this coming year would be to move into working from home on a full-time basis by mid year (June-July).

When I think of a resolution I think of: "I am going to lose weight this year" and then it usually goes by the wayside. You can fill in the quotes with anything you want. But with a goal I envision more of a plan that goes with the statement. "I want to lose weight so how am I going to achieve that goal" and then you write down exactly the steps you will follow and break it down into small steps. I guess my goal for this year would be to work harder to take the steps needed to accomplish my goals. I always have good intentions but don't seem to make good on them. One thing that I have gotten a good start on is to be more active here at adland and I'd like to thank Linda for her forums and also Clay Page for his. I feel as if I've come a long way but I still feel like a beginner. Martha
