The astrological event, dubbed a “superbolide” was an exploding meteor that shined brighter than the moon in Yunnan Province, Shangri-La County.

NASA described the star as a huge fireball that dazzled eyewitnesses who saw it flit through the sky yesterday.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large shooting star which they duly recorded on their mobile phones.

NASA confirmed that the superbolide explosion was similar to 540 tonnes of TNT devoting in the sky.

The phenomenon happened during the Chinese national holiday of Mid-Autumn night, so there were many witnesses to the incredible sight.

Russian hackers stole U.S. cyber secrets from NSA: media reports

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Russian government-backed hackers stole highly classified U.S. cyber secrets in 2015 from the National Security Agency after a contractor put information on his home computer, two newspapers reported on Thursday.

As reported first by The Wall Street Journal, citing unidentified sources, the theft included information on penetrating foreign computer networks and protecting against cyber attacks and is likely to be viewed as one of the most significant security breaches to date.

In a later story, The Washington Post said the employee had worked at the NSA’s Tailored Access Operations unit for elite hackers before he was fired in 2015.

The NSA declined to comment, citing agency policy “never to comment on our affiliates or personnel issues.” Reuters was not able to independently verify the reports.

If confirmed, the hack would mark the latest in a series of breaches of classified data from the secretive intelligence agency, including the 2013 leaks of data on classified U.S. surveillance programs by contractor Edward Snowden.

Another contractor, Harold Martin, is awaiting trial on charges that he took classified NSA material home. The Washington Post reported that Martin was not involved in the newly disclosed case.

Republican U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a statement responding to the Journal report that, if true, the details were alarming.

”The NSA needs to get its head out of the sand and solve its contractor problem,“ Sasse said. ”Russia is a clear adversary in cyberspace and we can’t afford these self-inflicted injuries.”

Tensions are already high in Washington over U.S. allegations of a surge in hacking of American targets by Russians, including the targeting of state election agencies and the hacking of Democratic Party computers in a bid to sway the outcome of the 2016 presidential election in favor of Republican Donald Trump.

Citing unidentified sources, both the Journal and the Post also reported that the contractor used antivirus software from Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab, the company whose products were banned from U.S. government networks last month because of suspicions they help the Kremlin conduct espionage.

Kaspersky Lab has strongly denied those allegations.

Russian government officials could have used flaws in Kaspersky software to hack into the machine in question, security experts told Reuters. They could also have intercepted traffic from the machine to Kaspersky computers.

Kaspersky said in a statement on Thursday that it found itself caught in the middle of a geopolitical fight.

“Kaspersky Lab has not been provided any evidence substantiating the company’s involvement in the alleged incident reported by the Wall Street Journal,” it said. “It is unfortunate that news coverage of unproven claims continue to perpetuate accusations about the company.”

The Department of Homeland Security on Sept. 13 banned Kaspersky products in federal networks, and the U.S. Senate approved a bill to ban them from use by the federal government, citing concerns the company may be a pawn of the Kremlin and poses a national security risk.

James Lewis, a cyber expert with the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, said the report of the breach sounded credible, though he did not have firsthand information on what had transpired.

“The baffling parts are that he was able to get stuff out of the building and that he was using Kaspersky, despite where he worked,” Lewis said. He said that intelligence agencies have considered Kaspersky products to be a source of risk for years.

Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who led calls in Congress to purge Kaspersky Lab products from government networks, on Thursday called on the Trump administration to declassify information about threats posed by Kaspersky Lab.

“It’s a disservice to the public and our national security to continue withholding this information,” Shaheen said in a statement.

AntiFa Declares Next Target As Special Report Reveals Who They’re After

Posted by | Oct 5, 2017

The Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement (RAM), one of the most militant of all the antifa groups.

The Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement (RAM), one of the most militant of all the antifa groups.

It seems AntiFa groups won’t be happy until they slash and burn everything in sight. They’ve now decided on a new target: the American law enforcement community.

Not happy enough toppling Confederate statues or inciting riots on the University of California Berkeley campus, these left-wing extremists have turned their attention to police, saying they’re oppressors. (The same oppressors that just rushed in to save so many victims in this nation’s deadliest mass shooting in Las Vegas this week.)

Antifa slogan: Fighting fascism is a social duty not an antisocial crime.

Antifa slogan: Fighting fascism is a social duty not an antisocial crime.

AntiFa is short for anti-fascist. The group’s goal is to show a strong unified force against white supremacy and the evils of corporate America. For many who join, it gives them an identity they’ve been yearning for. Antifa is leaderless, and has its roots in communism and socialism, anarchy and anti-racism. Oh and violence too.

The movement gained momentum after Trump’s inauguration. Antifa has little pockets all over the country. One group is planning a “Deface Columbus Day” coming up on October 9.

Some antifa factions are very militant and very violent. A Philadelphia group plans to basically overthrow the government and boot Trump from office on November 4. Guess we all have those October and November dates to look forward to.

Antifa frequently skirmishes with police.

Antifa frequently skirmishes with police.

All the groups have a radical agenda. They strive to intimidate. Fox News reports that antifa are literally stalking and threatening conservative students on the Berkeley campus. Some are even armed with baseball bats. Members of the university’s College Republicans group told Fox News that antifa are “doxxing” them, meaning publishing personal information on Twitter.

Graffiti like “Kill all Republicans” graces the restrooms these students frequent. Student Naweed Tahmas says his conservative group is “routinely harassed, chased, punched, stalked and spat on.” Naweed says, “It has become socially acceptable in Berkeley to physically beat someone for being conservative.”

Another student, Ashton Whitty, says antifa pulverized her car with lead pipes. She was at an off-campus speech, and they followed her there. “I was informed that antifa members were on each block tracking me using their cell phones,” Whitty said.

Berkeley campus police are investigating, but as of yet have no evidence that the antifa thugs are actually Berkeley students.

Antifa protestors lock arms in solidarity.

Antifa protestors lock arms in solidarity.

So why are AntiFa groups not happy enough creating chaos at colleges? Why have they turned their attention to cops? It’s because their hero is convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal. You remember him. He’s the guy that murdered Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner three decades ago. To AntiFa, he’s inspirational. They claim Jamal started the civil war that has never ended. AntiFa has picked up the torch and they’re running with it, to be sure.

Because of Jamal, AntiFa have always had a supreme hatred for cops. Their slogan is A.C.A.B., standing for All Cops Are B*******. Their anti-police stance has become more visible and more heated, fueled by the Black Lives Matter movement. To AntiFa, all cops are one and the same with white supremacists.

As such, they say they can’t rely on the cops or the courts to do anything, so they’ve taken matters into their own hands. They say they’re coming to get your freedoms, because you don’t deserve them. They might take your property too, because they believe in “expropriating goods to begin the revolutionary process.” Wow.

She is the face of antifa.

She is the face of antifa.

They blame everything on white America, corporations and cops: the modern-day struggle against slavery, black neighborhoods demolished by drug use, the prison population, and pretty much all other ills of society.

AntiFa had a recent skirmish in Nashville, Tennessee, protesting the “killer cops” of the Fraternal Order of Police. Some antifa groups hold workshops on why the police force needs to be completely abolished. (Yeah, that would work well). They refer to police as “our enemies in blue.”

All of this is why many law enforcement experts like retired NYPD sergeant and criminal justice professor Joseph Giacalone classify antifa groups as domestic terrorists. Antifa says is “historical mission is clear. We must burn down the American plantation once and for all.” And cops are included in that razing.

Antifa groups across the country are becoming more militant and violent.

Antifa groups across the country are becoming more militant and violent.

Perhaps Matt Walsh of The Blaze characterized AntiFa best: “To answer racism or perceived racism by becoming racist is about the dumbest and most indefensible response possible. This applies to the racists on both sides of the fence.”

“Both feel they are justified in acting this way because people on the other side are acting this way. I am so tired of that demented, third grade logic that I could vomit. If you want to be the good guy, you need to be better. If you have no desire to be better, then you are just as rotten as whatever evil or perceived evil you purport to oppose.”

Meet Siberia's Jesus: former traffic cop turned cult leader
Fox News

Thousands of Russians have flocked to southern Siberia to follow a man who claims to be Jesus Christ reincarnated.

Sergey Anatolyevitch Toro, 56, was once a traffic policeman and a Red Army soldier before the collapse of the Soviet Union. He is not that man anymore. Now, the man formally known as Sergey calls himself "Vissarion," and says he's the founder of the Church of the Last Testament, The Guardian reported.

Vissarion, who normally dons a long white cloak and sports long hair and a beard, lives with his followers in Petropavlovka, or what he calls his “Siberian utopia,” The Guardian reported. Since the early 1990’s, Vissarion has been able to attract some 5,000 followers who live by strict rules. They are not allowed to drink, smoke or possess money.

The leader teaches his followers about the apocalypse, reincarnation and vegetarianism, the Mirror reported. Vissarion says his goal is to join every religion on the globe together.

The BBC’s Simon Reeve interviewed Vissarion and a teacher who lived in Petropavlovka as part of a documentary slated to air Thursday, the Mirror reported.

The leader, who reportedly has two wives and six kids, teaches a “great flood is coming and he promises salvation and spiritual perfection to his followers,” the Mirror reported.

Newsweek reported Vissarion’s first wife left him after he wed a 19-year-old woman, who posed nude for his paintings.

A teacher who lives in Minusinsk told Reeve: "We have a school of noble maidens here. We’re preparing girls to become future wives, future brides for worthy men. She has to understand not to rise above the man, not to be proud of her independence but to be shy, inconspicuous and weak."

Reeve called the revelation “scary stuff.”

“I genuinely felt like I should be calling social services. They’re teaching Vissarion’s ten-volume sequel to The Bible," Reeve said.

Reeve asked Vissarion about his critics' accusations that the leader is “brainwashing and embezzling” his followers. Vissarion said the accusations made him feel “sad.”

“Sad, what else can I feel? This is unavoidable. I’ll put down the basis that will change all humanity,” Vissarion said.

Reeve noted at the end of the interview Vissarion requested his followers “donate money and provide labor for his profit-making businesses.”

2 million may die if North Korea nukes Seoul and Tokyo – report

Edited time: 5 Oct, 2017 17:15

© Reuters

As tensions rise on the Korean Peninsula, a new report has estimated that, should North Korea deploy its nuclear arsenal on Seoul and Tokyo, the death toll could be up to 2.1 million, with around 8 million injured.

Over the past few months, the stand-off, with Pyongyang on one side, and the US and its allies on the other, has been escalating, with belligerent rhetoric and provocative military posturing on both sides. Amid these tensions, astudy by 38 North – a site on North Korean affairs run by Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies – has revealed the potential consequences of a nuclear strike launched by the North on its neighbors.

The report’s author, Michael J. Zagurek Jr., notes that “history is replete with ‘rational actors’ grossly miscalculating, especially in crisis situations,” and that another nuclear or missile test might trigger a hostile reaction from the United States, prompting a nuclear strike from the North Korean regime.

Estimating that Pyongyang has a nuclear arsenal of 25 warheads, Zagurek calculated what would happen if leader Kim Jong-un decides to launch all of them at Seoul and Tokyo, since both Japan and South Korea are key US allies. Accounting for missile defense systems such as the THAAD, deployed in South Korea, and the Aegis Ashore ABM, due to be installed in Japan, he said that “not all 25 North Korean nuclear missile warheads will detonate on their targets.”

Zagurek gave estimates of the casualty rates from 20 percent, 50 percent and 80 percent of the missiles hitting their targets. According to the highest estimates, 2.1 million people would be killed and another 7.7 million wounded.

Japan is the only country to have had two atomic bombs detonate on its territory as an act of war. On August 6, 1945, an American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first deployed nuclear weapon over Hiroshima, Japan, killing 80,000 and obliterating 90 percent of the city. This was followed three days later by another bomb dropped on Nagasaki, which killed another 40,000. Earlier that year, Tokyo was firebombed by American planes, leading to 100,000 civilian deaths.

However, as the report notes, population density in metropolitan Japan and South Korea is a lot higher than it was several decades ago. Also, the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a strength of around 15-25 kilotons, while the device tested by North Korea in September had a likely strength of 108-205 kilotons.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula is being aggravated by both North Korea and the US and its allies. Pyongyang has carried out a number of nuclear tests and missile launches, while the United States has continued to carry out joint exercises with South Korea and Japan while escalating its rhetoric against Pyongyang.

Russia and China have proposed a ‘double-freeze’ solution, in which the US ceases its drills with South Korea in exchange for the North suspending its weapons programs. The US, however, has not accepted the proposal, saying it has every right to carry out exercises with its allies.

Moscow and Beijing have repeatedly stated that the crisis can be resolved only through peaceful means.

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin also pointed out that should someone decide to attack North Korea in “a disarming strike,” the aftermath of it would be uncertain as “no one knows for sure what is where.”

Washington earlier said that it would only talk to Pyongyang about bringing back Americans who are being detained in North Korea.

“Beyond that, there will be no conversations with North Korea at this time,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders stated.
