These discussions are not sitting right with me.

What I'd like to see is for newer nominees to be properly advised by the person who nominated them, on how to promote themselves, especially by participating in public forums consistently, preferably with non-ad posts, nominees need to be advised on how to gain a loyal fanbase and how to WIN, from their activity in Adlandpro Community, not in Facebook, Why ??????. not by joining a business and letting their biz team vote on them while they don't have any activity themselves.

I still think whoever nominates someone should coach the nominee on promoting themself before the ballot is posted and during the week of the election. I think the person who nominates someone should give full support to their nominee before & during the election.

If you nominate someone now you need to do what? coach them? Tell them what they should or should not do, and by who's standards? Now you think that by nominated someone that they should be

their campaign manager? Why don't you write up something that can be used as a template newsletter with what you think each one should do with getting votes, where to get them, how to present them selfs, how to act, how not to act, what other sources they can use, where they can't ask their other friends to come in and vote for them and so on. If I nominate someone or anyone else for that matter, why should they take on the task of being their campaign manager? Making a suggestion to do something… then do a what you think the letter should say and bring it forward so other members can add to it, or input their ideas. That way all new voting contestants will receive the same information to help them with their votes.

Suggestion with mail in votes, coaching, campaign managers, are suggesting putting more work on others. Mail in votes are nuts, as there is a poll that tracks all that already. Coaching can be a prewritten letter that goes out after it is put together, and presented to all for editing before publishing.

What if all people, if they qualify or not, does not want to be voted for?

Like me, I do not wish to run, or have the time to put froward a get votes campaign right now as my work load and projects are full.

The idea of nominated their selfs to want to run may be a great idea.

This one should be looked into along with if someone is nominated, to have the choice.

As far as more forums, not sure about this one. Can't all nomination suggestions and "I want to run" be done in one central location without the added forums?

Qualifying Rules I think are all already placed in the opening page of the main voting thread.

Changing the name of the suggesting thread so all know thats where all nomination suggestions, and "want to run" communication are held and monitored

is another option with out the added forums.

The idea on the pop up with members knowing they can ask to run is an idea too.

I kind of like that one. All information with qualifications rules and links to get there should be at the main voting forum. That is where you want everyone to land to see if they qualify, and then hopefully make a vote while they are there, and get to the other forum that is there already, (just change the name) where all nominations are done.

Dennis, you have good ideas, but I think the details should be looked into more.

Jim, has anyone heard of what they are doing with the opening page that is in the works?

Hi Mark

Again we wouldn't have to train anyone to busy to train for the POTW if we let them nominate themselves.
They would do there own training to see if they qualify to run for the POTW.

I'd like to offer a few of my view points, if I may. First I have to agree with Myrna and Kathleen on doing a little coaching for someone you nominate, especially some of the newer people. These things though, "participating in public forums consistently, preferably with non-ad posts, nominees need to be advised on how to gain a loyal fan base and how to WIN, from their activity in Adlandpro Community" should be taught in preparation to be nominated, not after because this is something that takes time. Again this is just my opinion and as we can all see we all have different view points and there's nothing wrong with that.
As we all know, sometimes notifications end up in cyberspace and unless you contact your nominee they may have no idea they're even in the running and also you might want to make sure they're even open to being nominated.
As far as someone nominating themselves I have conflicting emotions about that. I know it's done in politics but not sure it's proper etiquette for the POTW. Maybe the best solution would be to ask a friend to do it for you. As for not wanting to be on the ballot there is a simple solution for that, just send a message to the POTW team and ask that your name not be considered. That is what I did, because like Mark, I too have no desire to be a candidate. It took over 5 years for me to agree the first time and it'll probably be that long again, if ever. :)
PS: I don't think everyone is using the spell check option provided and that is one thing that really drives me up the wall. It's very simple to do. :)

Hi Dennis,

There have been many recent newer nominees with very little forum activity and lots of us are not familiar enough with some of them because they don't have much public participation, and also lots of longterm members who spend most of their time at Facebook coming back just for a short time because they've been nominated and then leaving again a couple weeks after they win.

What I'm saying is, the people who are making nominations should be looking for people who are here consistently thru the year and log in frequently, at least several times per week thru each month, and actively participate.

If people are nominating someone, nominate those who already are publicly noticeable and active, or encourage them to be more active in forums on a longterm basis and gain more recognition within the community.

There are also lots of voters who only come in once per week to vote but don't stay around to participate in forums or open their own forum.

Longterm frequent forum participation and forum-maintenance is an important part of the community.

I understand people vote on friendships that extend to Facebook even if those people aren't here frequently, and also vote on appealing photos, but if we want to generate more traffic, then voting on people who make frequent forum posts in lots of different forums would make sense, vote on those who generate traffic if we want to gain & maintain more traffic.

Hi all,

Another suggestion.... Would it be possible to have the dates of POTW wins placed under the "trophy" to help avoid someone being nominated when they are not elegible???

Also, I think 'self nomination' should be a big no-no.......

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
Take care,
Jo

There are a lot of good points in this discussion and good things are coming out of it. The pop up POTW on every page with a link to vote, a great landing page for the vote which is very attractive and has all of the information one needs to participate.

Lets give this a chance to work without making any more changes and opening more forums. If there are changes needed by individuals participating there are always direct messages to that individual that could be used. I have benefited from indirect coaching that may have been more appropriate in direct messaging.

I have nominated someone for the first time this week who I do not feel needs any coaching. I think it is good to work with new people in helping them to improve their marketing skills. Before being nominated a person should be ready. Coaching them during and after they have been nominated is too late. We have a lot of well qualified people that do not need a lot of coaching. I will be more active in the nominating process in the future. I will in the future make sure they are ready and want to be nominated before I do it.
