All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Jesus didn't dispute the Old Testament scriptures, though many times he said that the religious leaders of the day misinterpreted or misunderstood them.
He always broadens our view of the status quo but He never denies the validity of the scriptures. There are so many examples of this. Jesus was a critical thinker. He had a radically different understanding of the scriptures and what their intent was than those around him. He was and is totally amazing. He was and is the Son of God, who died on a cross for our sins to pay for what we could not pay for. We could never have done enough to earn our salvation. Only God could pay the price and that is why He came.
We have been pardoned and we are offered the chance to acknowledge our need for a Savior and be brought back into communion and fellowship with God.
His death, burial and resurrection is the crux of Christianity. What we do with this information is the main point of our lives.
Disagreement over certain aspects of our faith is to be expected. We can agree to disagree and still respect the other person's right to their own beliefs. In the long run, it doesn't even matter that we don't see eye to eye. What matters is answering the question that the LORD has asked us all.to consider.....
Who do you say that I am?
My prayer is for all who come by this forum to answer Jesus' question for themselves. "Who do you say that I am?"
~~~~~~
Thank you, Cheryl
