Hi Sara,

They are so funny! Mine sleep with us. If we don't get up soon enough for them, they start walking on us till we get up! My 17 year old will come and meow in my face and it sounds like she is saying "NOW!" They are all so funny!

Hi Myrna,

I am glad to hear that! The vet that I go to accepts that I don't want the shots. He also says that at least the one is too old. I think in the past, an older cat of mine went downhill and died as a result of the shots. This vet will titre them to see if they have the antibodies if you really need the paper that says they are immunized. Really you are right about them just needing first shots. I never heard of it referred to as a scam before but that is sure what it is. They do that to people, too.

I never heard of birds getting shots! I had a lot of cockatiels and budgerigars years ago and none had shots!!! I showed them in small shows, too, and shots weren't required.

Good for you!!!

Hi Cheryl,

Sorry I miss led you.

No, the birds didn't get any shots, they wanted to know how often I took my animals to the vet.
Which I didn't think was anyone's business, but you know they have to be in your face about something.

To me to find out if someone is a good pet keeper is call their friends and family, not the vet. The vet is about the vet. It just upset me, so I walked away.

Still want a bird, but will find one sometime. I still miss that little Loki.

Hi Myrna,

So you wanted to adopt a bird and they wanted to know how often you took your other animals to the vet? Hmmmm.

Sounds like we think alike! Be nice to have you for a neighbor. Guess you are in a way, here on Adland.

Just because someone takes their animals to the vet doesn't mean they are a good pet owner.

Hello everyone,

Somehow I seem to have a flea problem. Our cats don't go out so don't know how it happened. I supposed they could have picked up a flea at the vets??? Anyone have any solutions?

Especially because our cats are older, I do not want to put any poison on them so the accepted methods are not acceptable to me. Also, I need to tackle the carpets and furniture. Any ideas?

So far on the carpets and furniture, I have been told to use boric acid. I am not sure how safe even that is. Does anyone have any information on diatomacious (sp?) earth. I had heard of it years ago and don't know if that would work or even where to get it if it would be appropriate for this purpose.

For actually applying on the cats, I have so far ordered an oil spray from Dr Mercola/Becker's site. I am hoping that will help. I am open to suggestions and ideas.

Thanks for all your help!
