This sounds like the core of Adlandpro sometimes...as Wikipedia says, the core of the Earth is solid, with a temperature approximately the same as the surface of the sun, and it also contains precious metals such as gold & platinum, enough that if they were on the surface, would coat the earth in a 1.5 foot thickness (nearly half-meter thick).
