Can I put in my two cents worth here? English is the most forgiving language - which is why it has spread around the world. It is the main language that takes any new word of use and integrates it seamlessly. Did you know for example there are over 2,000 common words in English and French? Please whatever you do never try to remove the accent from the English used by foreign speakers - it is delightful. My French wife of 30 years still has hers and I love it - despite us having lived in many different countries. Accents are the colour amd spice added to English. Do not strive for 'perfect English' a) it doesn't exist, and b) even if it did who wants everyone to sound exactly the same? Regional and National accents are great!

Hi Norman: Thanks for your comments. Just to clear up my statement which is easy to misunderstand, we are not striving to keep from accents just providing a chance to hear English as spoken by English speaking people. A Russian lady who visits here often at Adlandpro said she had learned English at the University but had no one to speak to. She was forbidden to speak to foreigners under the old Russian gov't when behind the iron curtain. When visitors came speaking English to assist on her project, she was amazed that they understood her. Our goal now is to expose children to the sounds of English and information about the English contributions to the world as they learn a second language. En101 provides the same opportunity to hear, but we are merely adding enrichment to its content. Having fun and making new friends is what its all about.
