Re: Where does anger come from?

Hi: ========================================== Linda, the cryptology is fun but I wanna know how come even when I say h*ll or d*mn I get asterisked out? Now you say a$$ and it happens too. This is making a total # of some fairly inoffensive words. ========================================== That's just how the entire forum at Adland is programmed. Most forums are programmed with a "banned words" list. The administrator of the forum has the ability to determine what *is* and *is not* accepted and alter/manage the banned words list. Most forum owners will include profanity, and anything that *one* member might call another member, as well as any words that porn sites would use when trolling the net to post links to their stuff at public forums. (which also happens) So, the words that "are" and "are not" accepted are up to Bogdan or whoever he has appointed as admin for the programming of the forum. : ) Linda P.S. As for the hit counter thing, I think it's because when emotions get heated, people feel the need to "re-explain" or "clarify" what they were saying. It's human nature. When someone misunderstands, or we think they did, we usually want to correct that. Especially if we think they missed the point.

Good one Peter, I remember reading in some geeky book that 42 was supposed to be a supercomputer's answer to the meaning of the universe. But that was a LONG time ago - and the answer may have changed! And... it was never explained why a number represented the answer. Come to think of it, was it 41 or 42? I had in my mind that it was a prime number. Ah, doesn't matter. Linda: ========================= "P.S. Fight in the playground!" And I thought it may have been my little jokes. Hmmf. Gary Simpson

Lurkers....

Hi Gary; ========================================== That would account for the number of posts. But what about the views? - those in lurker land. Remember school? "Hey! Fight in the playground!" ========================================== Well, I'd actually attribute a lot of the views to the way the forum operates and what constitutes a view. Here's an example. I get an email notice that someone posted to the thread. I click the link. It takes me to page 1 of the thread. I scroll to the bottom and click page 5. Sometimes, page 1 loads again. Aaargh. I click page 5 again. Then it loads. Note: So far, I've "viewed" page 1 twice and page 5 once. Then I read the post and hit reply. I preview my reply and hit post. Page five loads *with* my post added. So, in that visit, I've created two views of page 1 and two views of page 5. That adds 4 views to the thread. Now, even if I "got" page 5 the first time I click on it, I'm still going to generate 3 "views" every time I respond to a thread. And if I go back to "re-read" someone else's post on a previous page before replying... that's another view. So, I don't think it's as many lurkers as it would seem. : ) The balloon burster lol
