Quirks
3/16/2009 1:13:53 PM
Quirks are only natural to anyone with a pulse. They're simple, almost unnoticeable things that people do and yet can't seem to stop doing it. One of my quirks has to do with smell. Occasionally I like to draw pictures, and to help create ideas, I'll chew on the end of my pen. This will create the smell of saliva on the pen. I can't stand the smell of saliva, and yet I continue to sniff that pen over and over again. I CAN'T HELP IT!

Hi Jayson,

Interesting little habits, quirks.

If I am doing a repetitive task I find myself counting for no good reason.

I tell myself off but always find myself counting again.

I remember the stuffed toy rabbit! Jayson had a little white rabbit for the first few years of his life that he carried around by the ears, actually constantly rubbing the rabbit ears against his nose most of the time, it was grubby, of course. I occasionally got it into the washer and dryer. Then along came his little brother, Dennis. When Dennis was about 3 or 4...and Jayson was about 5 or 6...Dennis dropped the rabbit into the toilet. I didnt think washing it would help, but it probably would have been okay after laundering BUT i was really tired of that grubby many-year-old toy rabbit. I threw it out, but Jayson missed it so much I bought him another one, but it was diffferent, the new one looked like a dog with rabbit ears. He didnt like it as much. He still remembers and blames Dennis for "drowning" his best friend, the once-white rabbit. Dennis had a blanket that he also kept for too many years and would freak out if he couldnt find it at bedtime. Eventually by the time he was too old, probably over 6, it was in tatters and I convinced him to let me toss it.

Hi Jayson,

Interesting subject because when I need to really concentrate on something, my little quirk that I do is I put my fingers over my closed eyes and that generally helps me think clearly. It works for me, when I read about your quirk, I thouhgt that has to be my quirk.

Hey Jayson,

Terri here again. I just realized another little habit(quirks) that i do. This might seem bizarre but i count ceiling tiles are floor tiles. Sometimes when I'm in the doctors office and I'm not looking at a magazine or watching the TV. The majority of the time I will do that. I do that pretty regular, so i guess that's a quirk too.
