RE: Human Shields In Gaza

Hi Peter, first I want to say thanks for furnishing me the link yesterday so I could watch the memorial service live. As most of it was in Hebrew the only part I could really understand was when the 6 survivors were speaking and the subtitles were furnished in English but I could understand enough to know it was a very moving and emotional service. Thanks too for posting Prime Minister Netanyahu's speech today in English as it too was given in Hebrew.
Going through the album and now watching these videos makes me wonder how anyone can ever default the US military in all the times they have stepped in and tried to stop human rights violations over the years but my main concern is how can anyone deny the Holocaust ever happened. I pray that those who doubt it ever happened will now see that this is just the tip of the iceberg of these unspeakable horrors shown here in these videos and photos. I am so thankful for President Eisenhower's intervention and his foresight in seeing that much of it was preserved in photos and videos, as horrible as they are to watch. What made it so hard for me to watch this last video was because it's hard to watch or read anything when your eyes are full of tears. :(
Thanks for these posts and especially the videos, as hard as they are to watch. I now have a much better understanding of the fortitude of the Jewish people, especially the survivors, as I'm sure they're haunted every waking moment by their memories of heinous, unspeakable horrors against a people who's only "sin" was being born Jewish.
Shalom

Hello Friends,

With the close of Yom Hashoah - The Holocaust Remembrance Day I thought it fitting to end with the below article by Jeff Dunitz from The Lid.

The truth of the matter is that I was planning to search for the video he included but with the many different articles and shows I watched and read it slipped my mind.

In the previous post the "Auschwitz Album" the main point is the system used by the Nazis with incoming Jewish prisoners. They were still reasonably healthy and fit but the majority of each incoming train was dead by days end. In the below article and video you'll read and hear witness of American soldiers who liberated many concentration camps (the Russians also liberated many). The camp in the video is Ohrdruf Concentration Camp and amongst the people you'll see in the video aside from the dead and emaciated Jewish prisoners are Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Gen. George Patton and Gen Omar Bradley. This was how the majority of the survivors looked when liberated and it is not a pretty sight. The three Generals were horrified to say the least and their personal feelings are expressed in the below article.

Ohrdruf was a relatively small concentration camp yet the horrors were no less then in the bigger and better known camps. Eisenhower forced all the civilian population surrounding the camp to march through and see what their fellow Germans did. In addition he had all the American soldiers not at the front go through the liberated camps to see what the Nazis did to fellow human beings.

Shalom,

Peter

Holocaust Remembrance Day Visions Of Horror-Eisenhower, Bradley and Patton at Ohrdruf Concentration Camp

Tonight at sunset begins a very solemn day on the Jewish Calendar, Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance day. It is observed on the 27th day of the month of Nisan, which marks the day when Allied troops liberated the first Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald, Germany, in 1945. The full name of the day is Yom Hashoah Ve-Hagevurah, which means the "Day of (remembrance of) the Holocaust and the Heroism."

On the morning of April 12th, 1945 General Eisenhower met Generals Bradley and Patton at Ohrdruf Concentration Camp. Afterwards Eisenhower also ordered every American soldier in the area who was not on the front lines to visit Ohrdruf and Buchenwald. He wanted them to see for themselves what they were fighting against. On this Yom HaShoah their words are much more moving then anything I could say :

During the camp inspections with his top commanders Eisenhower said that the atrocities were “beyond the American mind to comprehend.” He ordered that every citizen of the town of Gotha personally tour the camp and, after having done so, the mayor and his wife went home and hanged themselves. Later on Ike wrote to Mamie, “I never dreamed that such cruelty, bestiality, and savagery could really exist in this world.” He cabled General Marshall to suggest that he come to Germany and see these camps for himself. He encouraged Marshall to bring Congressmen and journalists with him. It would be many months before the world would know the full scope of the Holocaust — many months before they knew that the Nazi murder apparatus that was being discovered at Buchenwald and dozens of other death camps had slaughtered millions of innocent people.

General Eisenhower understood that many people would be unable to comprehend the full scope of this horror. He also understood that any human deeds that were so utterly evil might eventually be challenged or even denied as being literally unbelievable. For these reasons he ordered that all the civilian news media and military combat camera units be required to visit the camps and record their observations in print, pictures and film. As he explained to General Marshall, “I made the visit deliberately, in order to be in a position to give first-hand evidence of these things if ever, in the future, there develops a tendency to charge these allegations merely to ‘propaganda.’”

His prediction proved correct. When some groups, even today, attempt to deny that the Holocaust ever happened they are must confront the massive official record, including both written evidence and thousands of pictures, that Eisenhower ordered to be assembled when he saw what the Nazis had done.

General Patton wrote the following in his diary after he toured the Camp:

It was the most appalling sight imaginable. In a shed . . . was a pile of about 40 completely naked human bodies in the last stages of emaciation. These bodies were lightly sprinkled with lime, not for the purposes of destroying them, but for the purpose of removing the stench.

When the shed was full--I presume its capacity to be about 200, the bodies were taken to a pit a mile from the camp where they were buried. The inmates claimed that 3,000 men, who had been either shot in the head or who had died of starvation, had been so buried since the 1st of January

General Omar Bradley said of the atrocities at Ohrdruf:

"The smell of death overwhelmed us even before we passed through the stockade. More than 3200 naked, emaciated bodies had been flung into shallow graves. Others lay in the streets where they had fallen. Lice crawled over the yellowed skin of their sharp, bony frames."
May the Memories of those who suffered through the Shoah always be for a blessing. And may we never forget what evil men can do when they are appeased by the rest of the world.

Hi Evelyn,

Thanks for re-posting your comments. When I noticed this morning that your post was either deleted or "disappeared" I sent you an email asking if you deleted it. When you replied that you didn't delete it and would repost it an amazing thing happened. The first post REAPPEARED after you reposted it!!!!!! Very mysterious and strange.

Some very strange things are happening in Adland. Not only the disappearance of your post here but the 323rd POTW poll also seems to have disappeared. Wonder what's going on??

Shalom,

Peter

RE: HSIG - Telling the truth About The Iranian Threat
4/21/2012 11:14:27 AM
Hello Friends,

Last Wednesday PM Binyamin Netanyahu gave an impressive speech at the opening ceremony of Yom Hashoah - The Holocaust Remembrance Day that took place at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. You can read his speech here. Scroll down to the third post.

The main theme of his speech was the nuclear threat Iran imposes not only on Israel but the world at large.

From childhood I remember the ethical dilemma of Doctors whether to tell the patient the truth about his/her illness and there were arguments for and against. I personally thought the patient deserved to know the truth and the same holds true about political and national dangers.

Bibi Netanyahu stated that he would always tell the Israeli people the truth about inherent dangers and the greatest danger facing us now is a nuclear Iran. The same Iran that denies the Holocaust and the same Iran that day in day out calls for the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people.

The below article by Dan Margalit one of Israel's leading journalists and commentators discusses this issue. A very interesting read.

Shalom,

Peter

Dan Margalit

Telling the truth about the Iranian threat

In his speech on Wednesday marking Holocaust Remembrance Day, did Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu address the contradictory reality that existed leading up to World War II, which is making a comeback in current times?

He mentioned how in 1938 (back when Polish Jews were still frolicking in the snow-covered ski resorts of Zakopane), Ze'ev Jabotinsky warned the Jews in Warsaw of the coming calamity. But he didn't mention the fact that Jabotinsky's plan – to evacuate all Jews from Poland, Hungary and Romania – which the Jews foolishly refused to heed, was ultimately impractical. The British, in cooperation with the Arabs, had refused to allow Jewish refugees into Palestine.

This was the true "Right of Return" – the human, moral and justified right of return that most Jews refrained from demanding for themselves before the war, because they failed to grasp the severity of the situation. The British and the Arabs, being as mean as they were, only granted a small number of Jews this right.

The prime minister's speech was not ceremonial – it was practical. One can argue whether or not it was necessary for him to criticize the outcome of recent nuclear talks between Iran and the West in Istanbul, or to exhibit patience ahead of Washington's next move in that arena. That was tactical. But the important message in his speech was that the nation deserves to be told the truth about the Iranian threat. This threat must not be sugar-coated or played down, just like Israel's first prime minister David Ben-Gurion didn't play down the threat Israel faced in 1948. That was an even more perilous situation as Arab armies sought to drive the Jews into the sea.

Today, the Jews who are frolicking in some modern-day Zakopane and visiting the sites of their beloved country are not doing so empty-handed – they have a homeland.

Moshe Dayan once said in a eulogy that "without the steel helmet and the cannon's maw, we will not be able to plant a tree and build a home." Today, the Jews have much more than a tree and home. Israel cannot be defeated, as long as it doesn't defeat itself. After all, as Jabotinsky put it in 1923, Israel has an "iron wall."

RE: HSIG - Saudi mufti okays marriage for 10-year-old girls
4/22/2012 1:40:25 PM
Hello Friends,

The so called prophet whose claim to fame is butchery, pedophilia, slavery and almost every other vile and infamous act imaginable proclaimed that sex with a 9 year old girl is allowed. The muslims who see mohammad as the perfect man who is to be emulated and copied are carrying on his disgusting acts in this day and age as many of you already know.

Lately we've seen different imams, muftis and other isalmic clergy proclaim that marriage to little girls is OK according to islam. The grand mufti of Saudi Arabia recently proclaimed that marriage to a 10 year old girl is permissible and came out against those arguing that the marriage age should be raised. In Iran 9 years old is the permitted age. If it's good for the "perfect" man mohammad then it's good for all his brain dead followers. Read all about it below.

Shalom,

Peter

"The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)." -- Bukhari 7.62.88

In Islam, Muhammad is the supreme example of conduct (cf. Qur'an 33:21). Thus he is exemplary even in his marriage to a child: Muslims take this seriously and imitate Muhammad in this. Article 1041 of the Civil Code of the Islamic Republic of Iran states that girls can be engaged before the age of nine, and married at nine: "Marriage before puberty (nine full lunar years for girls) is prohibited. Marriage contracted before reaching puberty with the permission of the guardian is valid provided that the interests of the ward are duly observed."

The Ayatollah Khomeini himself married a ten-year-old girl when he was twenty-eight. Khomeini called marriage to a prepubescent girl "a divine blessing," and advised the faithful: "Do your best to ensure that your daughters do not see their first blood in your house."

"Saudi mufti okays marriage for 10 year old girls," World Observer, April 21 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti okayed marriage for girls starting at age 10 and criticized those who want to raise the legal marriageable age, according to news reports.

Sheikh Abdul-Aziz Al al-Sheikh said a girl becomes ready for marriage at 10 or 12 according to Islam and stressed that Islamic law is not by any means oppressive to women, the London-based al-Hayat reported Wednesday.

"Those who call for raising the age of marriage to 25 are absolutely mistaken," al-Sheikh said in a lecture he gave at the faculty housing mosque of Imam Mohamed bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh.

"Our mothers and grandmothers got married when they were barely 12. Good upbringing makes a girl ready to perform all marital duties at that age."

Al-Sheikh's statements came in response to a question from a female attendee about marrying minor girls without their consent.

The Saudi National Human Rights Association (NHRA) has criticized the prevalence of the marriage of minors in the kingdom and considered it a violation of childhood. The association has sought to work with authorities to curb the practice and protect children's rights.

NHRA stressed that underage marriages are also a breach of several United Nations treaties including the Child Rights Treaty, which Saudi signed in 1996 and the Treaty for the Rights of Women that the kingdom joined in 2000.

Last year a similar fatwa, or religious ruling, by Salafi preacher Sheikh Mohamed al-Maghrawi allowing girls as young as nine to marry was condemned by Morocco’s Supreme Scientific Council. The council said it lacked religious validity because it was based on only one case—the marriage of Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) to Aisha bint Abu-Bakr.

But isn't Muhammad's example normative, as per Qur'an 33:21?
