Re: Have civil libertarians and do-gooders stuffed our society?

I couldn't have said that any better, Phill. A 15 year old girl was bullied here at school and they did nothing. So the mother went around to the girl's house and belted the offender. That's what it's coming down to.

Hi John,

Good discussion.  Thank goodness my sons are now adults in their 30's, as
I don't think I could handle what's happening now.

It's the same in Canada.  Adults get kids to do their dirty work for them,
knowing that if they're caught they get a slap on the wrist, while the adults
lure kids with promises of big bucks.  Our kids' conciousness is "I want it
NOW" and so many of them don't want to work to get it.

Parents interferred with the schools here.  Teachers are not allowed to
discipline students and the students are disrespectful, use foul language,
neck in the passages and classrooms, it's absolute chaos. I pity the kids
who truly want to learn and I believe that's why home schooling is so big
here and also why so many parents are getting into debt sending their
children to private schools.

Here a drunk driver can kill someone, have their license suspended for
a year, then continue to drink and drive.  There are so many who have
had 4 DUIs using their vehicles as a lethal weapon.  Our laws are so
lax it's laughable.

I won't even address the pedophile issue.

At some stage our government has to do something about the crime and
school issue, although it won't be in my lifetime.  So much depends on
parents now, and if they don't step up to the plate the chaos will continue.

Hi Jen

Some drink-driving offenders here are losing their licenses and straightaway jumping into their cars and driving home from the courthouse.

Hi John,

It seems that the same problems are running rampant all over the world. It's not quite as bad here in Israel (yet) as in other places but similar problems do exist.

This is a vicious cycle it seems. The parents aren't parenting any more and expect the schools to do their job. The schools are barely teaching any more and the teachers are happy they get home every day in one piece.

So, no parenting (are they afraid to set boundaries like we used to) the education system and schools leave a lot to be desired and the result is chaos. And to top it  all off the "civil libertarians and do gooders" are doing their damage.

Not a very rosy future is it? I say yea to gagging the civil libertarians and tell em to butt out and disappear.

As for the MP; shame there aren't more like him!!! :)

Shalom,

Peter

Hi Peter

The only chance society has is to introduce New York style "zero tolerance". That's where the police come down hard on the smallest indiscretion, such as dropping a gum wrapper in the street, and work up to the bigger crimes such as assault and murder.

OR

Replicate the deeds of Joe Arpaio, the tough Arizona Sheriff who told the inmates if they didn't like his conditions, don't come back.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel.

When asked why the weather channel he replied, "so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs."

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape and piped it into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place
(one for the Republicans).

Does anyone know if this "rough justice" took hold in the States?
