Kathleen I think it's called a double standard, or that's what it used to be called anyway.

Palin is pro-life and a prominent member of Feminists for Life.

Concerning education, while running for Governor of Alaska and asked about the teaching of creationism in public school science classes, Palin answered that she thought it was healthy for both creationism and evolution to be taught together; although she clarified the next day that she meant that open debate between the two ideas should not be prohibited if it came up in discussion, but that creationism did not need to be part of the curriculum. She also added that she would not appoint State Board of Education members based on their opinions on evolution or creationism.Since her election she has appointed three of the seven Board members, who serve five-year terms: Patrick Shier, Phillip Schneider, and Geraldine Benshoof. None of these appointments attracted criticism on this issue.

Palin has said she has good friends who are gay, opposes same-sex marriage, but complied with an Alaskan state Supreme Court order and signed an implementation of same-sex benefits into law, stating that legal options to avoid doing so had run out.She supported a non-binding referendum for a constitutional amendment to deny benefits to homosexual couples.

Palin's husband, Todd Palin, worked for the energy corporation British Petroleum at an oil field on Alaska's North Slope and works as a fisherman in his hometown in the summers. Todd is a world champion snowmobiler, winning the 2,000-mile (3,200 km) "Iron Dog" race four times. Todd is one-eighth Yup'ik.The two eloped shortly after Palin graduated from college; when they learned they needed witnesses for the civil ceremony, they recruited two residents from the old-age home down the street. The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 45 miles (72 km) north of Anchorage.

On September 11, 2007, Palin's then eighteen-year-old son Track, the eldest of her five children, joined the Army. He now serves in an infantry brigade. She also has three daughters: Bristol, Willow and Piper.

On April 18, 2008, while in office as governor, Palin gave birth to her second son and fifth child, Trig Paxson Van Palin, who, as prenatal genetic testing had shown, has Down syndrome. She returned to the office three days after giving birth. Her decision to have the baby was applauded by the pro-life community.

Details of Palin's personal life have contributed to her political image. She hunts, ice fishes, eats mooseburger, rides snowmobiles, has run a marathon, and owns a float plane Palin holds a lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association. She admits that she used marijuana at a time when the state had legalized possession of small amounts. She says that she did not like it and she does not support legalizing marijuana, concerned about the message it would send to her kids.  Palin is Mc Cains New Running mate, bold move? smart move?

INFO ABOUT SARAH PALIN, McCain's choice of VP:

Sarah Palin became a mayor at age 32, beating out a 3-term incumbent mayor from her same party.  That's hard to do!  A town of 9,000 is more people than Obama, Clinton or Biden has ever been responsible for!

She's been Governor of Alaska since December 2006, a state of 600,000 residents, and has an 80% approval rating!  The people of Alaska say she's accomplished more in 20 months than her predecessor accomplished in 12 years.  She was the youngest and first female governor of Alaska!

Alaska had one of the most, if not THE most corrupt governments of all the states before she became governor.  She stood up to the corruption and many of those legislators have since left office in shame.  In 20 months, she has vetoed more than 300 wasteful spending bills, stopping more waste than any other governor.

As McCain said when introducing her, "We need a government that STANDS UP FOR US...NOT STANDS IN OUR WAY!!!"

Sarah Palin has done a lot of traveling around that huge state, many of the towns are far apart, and she has put in more personal effort and has met more people face-to-face than the governors of most states.

Alaska is one of our most important energy-producing states and she knows a lot about energy resources.  She's the ONLY governor or senator who has ever been to ANWAR, and can give the best information and advice about possible drilling there.

She outshines Obama AND Clinton and Biden.  Senators just push papers around and sign a few things once in awhile, and don't even work every day, they show up when they feel like it.  Governors are in charge of entire states and responsible for all the people in their state, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Mike Huckabee, the Governor of Arkansas, said a governor gets more experience in 1 month than a senator gets in numerous years.  Governors are basically running their own small countries.  Sarah Palin is more ready than any long-term senator.

John McCain is a senator, but he was also a Navy Commander during a war, in charge of the safety of many people, in charge of their planes and equipment.  He's ready, and she's ready, they are BOTH more well-prepared to be President and VP than Obama and Biden, or Hillary Clinton.

Obama explains his choice ,(CBS) In his first reaction to the choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate, Sen. Barack Obama tells 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft that she is an "up-and-coming public servant." Of his own choice for running mate, the Democratic presidential nominee says Sen. Joseph Biden "can step in and become president."

Obama and Biden sat down with Kroft Friday night in Pittsburgh for an interview to be broadcast on 60 Minutes
this Sunday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

"Let me tell you the reason I picked Joe Biden," Sen. Obama told Kroft. "Number one, he can step in and become president. And I don't think anybody has any doubt about that. Number two is that if I'm in the room making the kinds of tough decisions that the next president's going to have to make both on domestic policy and on international policy, then I want the counsel and advice of somebody who's not going to agree with me 100 percent of time - in fact, somebody what's independent enough that can push back and give me different perspectives and make sure that I'm catching any blind spots that I have. And Joe Biden doesn't bite his tongue.

"Number three, is somebody who I know in his heart cares about the American people and the American dream, and is willing to fight for them as hard as he can. And Joe Biden fit that bill," Obama added.

"What do you think of Senator McCain's vice presidential choice? And how does it change the dynamics of this campaign?" Kroft asked.

"Well, I don't know Governor Palin, I have not met her before. I had a brief conversation with her after she was selected to congratulate her and wish her luck - but, not too much luck! - on the campaign trial. And she seems to have a compelling life story. Obviously, she's a fine mother and a up-and-coming public servant," Obama said. "So, it's too early for me to gauge what kind of running mate she'll be.

"My sense is that she subscribes to John McCain's agenda. And ultimately, this [election] is going to be about where I want to take the country and where Joe Biden wants to take the country, and where John McCain and his running mate want to take the country." A review by a veteran;
McCain helped his campaign by picking another maverick and female who can stand up to anyone. Palin has as much experience as Obama on top of his ticket. Palin is a new inspiring pick the republicans need. She has 80 percent approval in Alaska and is the most popular Governor in America. She taxed oil companies and gave it all back to Alaska''s taxpayers at $1,200 each.

Obama is a smart inspiring speaker, but Palin''s actions speak louder than political words. She has fought corruption in both parties in Alaska. When she speaks she says it like it is, unlike polished career politicians. Some people can talk the talk, but Palin can walk the walk. Anyone with doubts about Palin should watch her interview with Maria Bartiromo on CNBC.

People are talking negatively about Palin without knowing all the facts about what she has achieved, including the media because they are in love with Obama. The media is saying McCain picked Palin because of Hillary not being picked and I love Hillary, but Sarah is the real deal for republicans and she gives them a new face that they need to reform their party. The republican party has always been for the rich and special interests, Sarah represents “we the people” and is against government waste and the good old boy network, this is just what republicans need to fix their image and party direction.

Now the race is exciting and change is coming to both parties! History will be made period with either Obama or McCain!

Republicans don't need to "fix their image"!  The Republican party is solid, unlike the splintered Democratic party of this year that had almost a tie between Hillary and Obama, the DNC is run by that loony Howard Dean who's state of Vermont is one of the worst for child molesters running free, and also the Democratic Speaker of the House with San Francisco values, that daffy mouth-breather Nancy Pelosi who said 3 times within 1 speech that natural gas is NOT a fossil fuel, then said she only said it once by accident, DUH!!!

The Republican party keeps government small, the Democratic party makes government larger (by giving away freebies to everyone who puts their hands out) and a larger government COSTS all WORKING PEOPLE more in TAXES.

The Republican party was known as the party of the rich SEVERAL DECADES AGO, when the Democratic party was the party of the people, but both have changed a lot since then.  There are plenty of rich Democrats, John Kerry for example, and John Edwards who owns a $6 million mansion across the street from a trailer park full of people whom he has NEVER gone out to meet!  John Edwards girlfriend had expensive homes in NC and CA, and has recently been hiding out in St. Croix in the Carribean so she won't be bothered by the American media!  Oh, those poor poor Democrats!  Boo-hoo!!!

Michelle Obama earned $1,000,000 last year from being on a special board at the University of Chicago Hospital, but only about $310,000 this year, that's her REGULAR salary.  Why did the Obama's need to get a deal on their $1,000,000 house and pay only $104,000 from fraudulent real estate agent Tony Rezko?  Too bad we ALL can't buy a million dollar mansion for 10% of the price.  The Obama's HAVE the money but find ways to shortcut THEIR home expense, why don't they help ALL of US?
