Re: The Truth About Buying Leads

Dave,

A good lead source is hard to find and like you say many people are being ripped off by thieves.  There is not a better way to describe them, and they prey mostly on the newbie marketer.

When choosing a source for leads it is always to check to see if the leads come with the following criteria.

Full Name

Physical Address

Email Address

Phone #

And now it is important that the leads have a Date and Time Stamp, to protect you from being accused of spamming.

If the company can provide the survey they filled out it is nice to have one.

Another important point to consider is if the leads are Targeted to your specific business, or they just blast leads.

Personally, for my business I use http://myhealthycustomers.com/moneypartners

and along with this service I have my own Lead Capture Page http://myhealthycustomers.com/CardioCocktail

Dave,

Great information on leads.  My experience has been pretty much as you described it.

Any leads you get had better have a time stamp. Too many brokers are promising real time leads, and you'd better see that time stamp to verify how old those leads are. That lead company that disappeared with my money promised leads that were less than a week old, but guess what... The time stamp on them, when I got them, showed that they were anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months old. If they don't provide a time stamp, don't take them. Old leads are no good, because chances are, they've been called by hundreds of people already.

It's me again!

You know, if you really want to use business cards effectively, you should consider your design, and make it unique. I started with the Vista Print free deal, and expanded on it a bit, as a return customer. You see, the first batch I ordered were free plus shipping. I used their design and printed on one side. Nice cards. However, when I returned to order more cards, I decided to design my own, and I also decided to print on both sides. They turned out beautifully.

Here is one of my cards from back in my MLM days:

  BACK
  FRONT

I spent $65.00 on these and got 500 of them. My response rate went way up, using these. They catch one's attention, because they're different.

I leave my card everywhere I go. Restaurants, gas stations, banks; you name it. My nine-year-old loves to go put out my business cards. He's my little PR man. ;-)

Be creative.

Hi James,

You have added some great points to this conversation!  The information you have mentioned that is needed when buying leads is definitely VERY important, and yes, the date and time stamp is crucial!

Targeted leads are definitely the best, especially if they are phone surveyed, and it's very helpful to have the survey, as it gives you that much more to help your prospect realize that you are definitely the person they want to hear from.

You're working with a good company that has taken care of both your lead source and your excellent lead capture page.  They've done a great job.

God bless,

Dave
