	It would be hard to find a more idyllic landscape than this one, painted circa 1823 - that is, Turner must have been almost fifty by then. William Turner - The Bay of Baiae with Apollo and the Sybil (oil on canvas, c.1823)

	What to say of these two precious but almost schematic watercolors painted in 1919, when Turner was about forty-five? William Turner - Venice, Looking East from the Guidecca: Sunrise (watercolor on paper, 1819) William Turner - Venice, San Giorgio from the Dogana: Sunrise (watercolor on paper, 1819) And what about this other work, an oil consisting of no more than a few dabs of color on canvas painted circa 1835-40, when Turner must have been in plain old age? William Turner - Norham Castle, Sunrise (oil on canvas, c.1835-40)

	I say nothing unique when I say, "What a master of light". Even the dark forbidding examples of his work use the light, or lack of it, to create great effects. A master of the economy of brushstrokes too. Oh to paint like him. I know exactly what you mean Miguel. Roger
