Back to the beautiful land- and seascapes by Caspar David Friedrich, here are three of his best ones. The fact that he loved to paint the dark hours becomes even more patent with them.

Caspar David Friedrich - Morning in the Riesengebirge (oil on canvas, 1810-11)

Caspar David Friedrich - Boats in the Harbour at Evening (oil on canvas, c.1828)

Caspar David Friedrich - Seashore with Shipwreck by Moonlight (oil on canvas, 1825-30)

Hi Luis,

All of Caspar's paintings have mystery, this shipwreck is very interesting. It looks to me like they are discussing what they are going to do now. ....... Love the sky........ after the storm

But the Day follows the Night, just as the Night follows the Day in a perennial revolution. Here is a glorious painting depicting Mount Watzmann at dawn.

You are right Luis-the coloring makes a big difference!
We have cemeteries like those with the tall spooky mausoleums where the ghosts hang out-Myrna I don't like "boats" any way and I know for sure I would not have wanted to be on that one!
