CONTROVERSY OVER THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE
11/15/2008 7:46:10 AM

The Fairness Doctrine really has alot of people up in arms because they are afraid that we may lose our Freedom Of Speech, and some of the Talk radio show hosts such as Sean Hannity, Rusch Limbaugh, Mark Levin, etc.

I am against the Fairness Doctrine, however I do think there are a couple of people we could do without on radio, and my main "beef" is with Mark Levin! I do not know how many of you have ever heard this guy, but I have just recently started listening to him on talk radio and I think he should have his butt tossed off of it! I have no problem with world issues and concerns being debated and talked about, but when you have some jerk like this guy demeaning people, ranting and raving like some lunatic, calling people all kinds of names, etc that is way beyond what should be tolerated... I just can not believe he is allowed to do this. This man is definitely prejudice against many people, and I want to see him removed from talk radio.

I am not a fan of Sean Hannity either, but at least he does not talk to people or treat people in the same manner that Mark Levin does. It is really disgusting in my opinion! In my opinion, Mark Levin is doing alot more wrong than the guy (his name escapes me at the moment), that got fired for saying a racist remark. So, I have to wonder why Mark Levin gets away with what he is doing and the other guy didn't?

I am sure that there are some people that will disagree with me and that's okay. I do have to wonder though how anyone with any kind of semblance of intelligence and human decency can sit and listen to him demean and degrade his callers, belittle people he does not agree with, and in my opinion just be downright racist? The other day he was talking about Senator Chuck Schumer (D -NY) ...now instead of calling him by his proper name he was calling him a "Schmuck" etc, and talking about his hair plugs, and so and so forth. That was totally uncalled for, he doesn't have to like the man or agree with him, but he can at least act like a professional and be respectful of others.

I would like to hear your comments on this issue and also about Mark Levin.

That's my rant for the day! lol ;)

God Bless You All,

My response will likely be file-13 bound but here goes anyway. Generally I agree with fairness and against defaming someones character. Expressing ones ideas about an individual, especially named by high profile personnel on the media is not right. Communicating this directly would be OK in my opinion.
Generaly the media is on the edge when it comes to using it depicting people in ways that are totally inappropriate.

Hello Marilyn

I have not heard of Mark Lavine.  Can we get him on the internet?  I live in Canada so would probably not be able to hear him otherwise.  It sounds like I am not missing much.  :)

Sometimes the stations hire someone like that because it actually brings more people to the station and not less.  The more you complain about him the better they like it.  I think the best is not to listen to him.  As less and less people listen the more likely he is to get fired.

Just a thought.

Hi Rudy,

I hardly ever delete anyone's post, the only time is if someone is being rude or talking bad about others in the Community. I am not like that, so thanks for posting your opinion. I agree with you 100%...if he has an issue with someone say it to them face to face, or on the phone etc. but to do this on the air is in very poor taste.

Thanks again for a great comment!

Hi Helen,

I do not think you can get his station on the Internet but I will check on that and get back to you for sure about it. You definitely are not missing a thing...he is rude, obnoxious, and very hateful.

I know stations like to have people that are good and will bring in listeners but this is way over the top in my opinion. Thanks for the great comments, and maybe your right, I wish he would get fired.

Have a great day!
