Hello Marilyn and Friends

Freedom of speech is, on many fronts, already a thing of the past. When I look at what happened during the national conventions this year I am appalled by the total disregard for our constitution.

It is very difficult to set the bar on abuse when presidential candidates lie about and slander each other at every turn. It would be nice if we could look to our political leaders to set a higher standard for pubic speaking but I am afraid the exact opposite is the reality. When our leaders can't even be respectful and honest, how do we set the standard for other public figures?

It was Imus that was chastised and fired for his comments about a women's basketball team. It was humor in poor taste but at least he was held to some standard. Unfortunately though, it was a standard that is not equally levied on all public figures.

Michael Savage is another very disrespectful radio host. The insult he waged aganst the parents of autistic children a while back was totally unwarrented and he should have been held at least as accountable as Imus was.

Without equal rights and equal protection under the laws, there might as well not be any laws.

Thank You Marilyn, for bringing up a very interesting and important topic.

Sincerely, Billdaddy

"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves."   2Peter 2:1

Hi Marilyn,

Unfortunately, the only "Fairness" that will come to pass under the "Fairness Doctrine", will be the Leftist, Marxist/Communist, Nauseating, Infuriating, and downright DANGEROUS drivel that we've heard from Hussein Obama and his Leftist Co-horts for the past two years.  By the way, the Television stations are next. Why else do you think that the Government is forcing everyone to switch to Digital?  Once the Government controls the Cable, then 1984 is here!!  Especially after he rounds up all of the Guns and sets up the Baby Saughter Houses under the "Freedom of Choice Act".

Personally, I don't listen to Extremists on either side.  My Lord gave me a Brain, and as long as I am allowed the Freedom to follow His teachings and to worship Him while I still have the Freedom to do so,  He is my guide and I will read both sides and then act according to His will.  He is still in Control!

For anyone that wants to listen to this Drivel from these so-called Voices of the People...

Here's a couple of links...

Hi Marilyn,

In my opinion "freedom of speech" is just that .. it's not rocket science to understand that law. It means everyone has the freedom to voice their opinions by whatever means and words they see fit. Whether they do it with respect or not is irrelevant. Whether those listening are offended or not is also irrelevant every tv and radio has an off button.  I rarely listen to talk show radio either so I do not know this guy your talking about, however I have seen Bill Meyers on tv spout what I see as venomous and disgusting no one seems to mind his liberal views.  I still feel everyone whether they are liberal or conservative should be able to voice their opinions without fear of being prosecuted by the thought police.
