Hello Marilyn,
Your reply is appreciated and noted. Of all the information, that has been shared by others, this is th the most informative without having to give up my personal information to receive it. Thank you.
Many programs offer the self funding feature and is a good business practice to do so. Now all that is needed is to find those folks willing to make such an investment with you at launch. Which in itself is another challenge.
Yes, folks should do their own due diligence, unfortunately we all know that is not the case. On the front end there is very little information and if a visitor does make it to the backend. They tend to go directly to their own promotional link so as to get the word out first. As they fear someone else will get to their people first. Usually passing over what the investment and the potential payoff is.
Owning your own game platform is really intriguing and definitely has a potential to become profitable. Competing with the Big Boys in this world will be another thing. Will the advertisers com? Yet to be proven, unless they can gain product placement in the games people are playing. Which means major development costs.
Will people be willing to pay to play games online?
Hmmm, maybe if you have a good role playing game that involves killing as many goons as possible. I know I pay for my son's access to WOW. But will they be willing to pay to play checkers, chess, spades, hearts or backgammon? I doubt it. Others already have that crowd pretty much covered with their proven business models. The advertisers are already there.
I am not saying there is not a market, but it is going to be a tough niche to carve a profit in for the typical opportunity seeker. The numbers validate this very well. The 80/20 rule doesn't apply in this realm. It is more like a 98/02 rule.
Thanks for your post Marilyn.
Jim
