Origins of Yule'
12/8/2007 4:33:31 PM

Hello All,

Just a quick note here to pass on a link you all may enjoy. It concens the origins  of Yule, which date back many, many years before the common Christian era. Here, you will read about Odin in his older aspects, one of which is almost the immediate predeccessor of the modern-day Santa Claus. Here's the link:

http://home.earthlink.net/~wodensharrow/yule.html

When you finish reading this page, just out of curiosity, goto the link of All of the names of Odhinn. There are over 235 of them with their description of each. (OK, ok....at least "I" found them interesting).

Have a Hearty Yule season and Happy Holidays to all.

SANCTA LUCIA

One day I will teach you the TRUE LEGEND
about LUCIA,why it is on December 13th and the beauty of the name. I have my speech from 1996. I just need to translate it.

As a Modern Event.

December 13 is Saint Lucia day in Sweden, where each town's voted "Sankta Lucia" wears a crown of candles and, escorted by girls in white with a red sash and "star boys" wanders the town bringing light and song (and saffron buns!)

From the Lucia Celebration

Enjoy a trraditional event

Hello Benton!

Thank you for the Newgrange article. I have red much about this event and what is behind to this solar. In Greek Mythology Apollo used to move to Hyberborea the winter months. There are many different aspects on where he went. One of the versions mentions the Brittish islands.

I believe that there is much  to study about ancient celebrations and  ancient religion.  Most of the myths are from 10.000 BC and maybe older.

Of course the were relations but also connectiosn between the Greek and Celtic and Norse mythology. The eponym Lykeios to Apollo and "god of sun' has to do with winter solstice.

Another fact that we should know is that when he was born, Leto, his mother was followed by two Hyberborean nurces.

HAPPY VERNAL EQUINOX

Equinox derives from "aequus+nox" meaning equal night.

In astronomy, equinox appears twice per year. In spring and autumn. It is the moment when the Sun is positioned directly over the Earth's equator and, by extension, the apparent position of the Sun at that moment.
