Not only the sound, but the vibrations can be felt from all the wings flapping!!!  I use to take it for granted from far off.  One day I had to go into a field where 10s of thousands were bedding down.  When I got out of my truck, awestruck of course due to the ground completely covered, my door made just the right bang when it closed... the geese began to suddenly jump into the air and start flying.  Wow!  It was quite an experience.  Now I just go to watch them.  My favorite is the landings.
