Yes Brother Jim!

Jesus never committed any sins, but he died to take away all our sins so that we could have salvation if we only believe in him.  I try so hard to get this fact across because I don't want to see people going to hell.  I want them all to be saved.

Jesus was the only perfect man to ever live.  We are of the flesh and all of us have sinned so Lord please forgive us all and deliver us from evil and temptation.  I pray for everyone here that they come to know you and accept you as their saviour.

In Jesus Name!

Amen

Marion,

Neither Jesus nor his followers had a church, yet they succeeded quite well.   I have prayed in places that would hardly qualify as holy, yet my prayers were answered.   Always remember, it is not where you are when you pray to God, just do it.  He will hear.

I do believe you have touched some hearts with this forum.

Marion,

Jesus told the woman at the well, I think its in John the 4th chapter if my memory is correct, that the time was now coming and "now is" when the true worshipers would worship in Spirit and in truth after she had asked Him about where to worship.

I just looked it up in my New King James Version, you can read the entire story in John the 4th chapter.  Many lessons could be drawn from this account but after Jesus had been talking to her for awhile, remember she was from Samaria and normally the Jews went a long way out of their way to avoid the Samaritans, but Jesus didn't!

It wasn't customary for any man to be talking to a woman in public in that culture (at least that's what I've heard) and here was Jesus, a Jew, not only talking to a woman, but even a woman from Samaria and on top of that, a woman with a bad reputation!  She had been married five times and the man with whom she was living wasn't even her husband.

As I said, many lessons can be drawn from this account!

Getting back to the story though, in verse 20 she finally said, "Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship."

Then verses 21-24 are the ones I had reference to:

"Jesus said to her, 'Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.                               22 'You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.                  23 'But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.          24 'God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.'"

One thing we can learn from this is that God is everywhere and He is not at one place as opposed to somewhere else!  There is no getting away from Him!  Therefore we can worship Him wherever we are!

At the time Jesus was having the conversation with the woman at the well, the temple was still standing in Jerusalem and the Jews were still going there to worship in an effort to follow the instructions of Moses.

However, Jesus Himself came to take the place of that temple which was soon to be destroyed, never to be rebuilt!

That's why it was not necessary to go to Jerusalem any more!  That's were physical sacrifices had to be made in a physical temple under the Old Covenant!

Jesus came and initiated the New Covenant, with no more need of Levitical Priests to serve in the temple, Jesus has become our High Priest forever.  He will never die and have to be replaced like the Levitical Priests did!

There is a lot of fighting going on today because some believe that there has to be a new temple built by the Jews in Jerusalem!  They are mistaken and that fighting needs to be stopped!

I could give Scriptures to back up the statement that Jesus Himself has taken the place of the temple in Jerusalem but I think I've said enough for now!

Oh, about a house of God for us to worship Him in?

Yes, it is nice to have a place to get together because Heb. 10:23-25 gives us these instructions:

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.                24 "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,                                            25 "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

Love and blessing to all,

J.V.

Good morning Marion;

I know you did not say that I'd rot in Hell, directly, but indirectly you did. I know my mother thinks I will.

I was baptised and raised by a Catholic family, in the Catholic church.
My father is a Pentacostal Minister, whom my mother divorced before he 'found' God.

When I screw up, I'm the first to admit it and pray for forgiveness. I believe in Jesus Christ, and all that he taught. I just do not believe in organized religion, Christian or otherwise. It contains too much hypocrisy.

I do not support any faith that condones killing, for any reason. Christain, Muslim, or otherwise. I have faith in God, not religious zeal. Like I said before, Christian faiths interpret the Bible differently, and that is a flaw. It says one thing. It should not be subject to mass interpretation. There should not be a gazillion different denominations of the Christian faith. However, the leaders of all the different denominations have divided the faith based on interpretation. If that were not true, there would be only one Christian religion, not Catholics, Baptists, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Methodists, etc.. They all claim to follow the Bible, but each of them says it tells a different story. And, they all say that the story they preach is the RIGHT ONE.

Jesus said to love thy neighbor, not burn crosses in front of his home, or hang him from a tree, or blow him up in an office building, yet so-called religious people have been doing these things in His name since the time of Christ.

I do not, and never will, believe that I must belong to a religion to be close to God.

I'm not condeming Christianity. To follow Christ is one thing, to warp his words to suit a purpose is another. There are too many people in the world who claim to be Christian with their words, and Sunday church attendance, and spend the rest of their time doing things that go against the very faith they proclaim. Look at all those who gossip. Gossip is totally un-Christian. 'Thou shalt not beare false witness against thy neighbor.' How many people cheat on their spouses, and then go to church? 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.' How many people confess their sins, on Sunday, just to go out and commit them again on Monday?

Organized religion has become corrupt. Do as I say on Sunday, not what I do the rest of the week. You see it in the news every day. Religious zealots tend to judge everyone else, which is a hypocrisy. God is the only one to hold court, not man. Christians should not judge Muslims, and Muslims should not judge Christians.

We should live our lives and leave the judgement to God, like we are supposed to. Who are we, as mere mortals, to say that our beliefs are more right than someone elses? If we all would adhere to the ten commandments, the world would be a better place to live in.

Palistine and Israel have been fighting a religious war for thousands of years. Fighting over a piece of ground, in the name of God. Have they come any closer to a resolution? No, all that has been accomplished is death.
