Hi Roger,

Thank You so much for your response. I wasn't sure about posting this here, however, this seemed to be an appropriate place.

I'm a Conservative Republican, and I'm sure that many of my Friends wonder if I've suddenly turned into a Tree-Hugger. However, when I was younger, we took many trips to the Outer Banks of NC, and I can remember just how beautiful and unspoiled that they were. The last two trips that I've taken down to Hatteras and the Outer Banks have left me in tears. The Developers are slowly and surely destroying what was once one of God's most Beautiful Creations. So Yes my Friends, I guess I'm now a Tree-Hugger, if that's what it will take to save a little of this planet for our Children and Grandchildren.

“Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”

-Ancient Native American Proverb
God Bless You My Dear Friend,
Phil

Sarah, Phil and others posting here - I want to join in and say we need to preserve our Mother Earth. God has given us this beautiful place to live and we are destroying it.

Phil, a beautiful but sad story about banks of NC. When I was a teenager I spent my summers in SC with my sister & husband. We always took at least 2 trips up into the mountains and visited Cherokee, NC. The beauty would take my breathe away. Of course, we went to Hangman's Bluff, saw the waterfalls and dipped our feet in the clear cold mountain streams. I suppose a lot of that has changed now.

The last time I visited along the Gulf Shore I was devastated by all the casinos, the motels and others things that even prevent seeing the beaches. We used to be able to visit Florida beaches and find some lonely place to enjoy, now you have to pay to use the beach if you find one available or clean enough to use. Miami was a huge disappointment, all the beaches were already taken over by casinos and hotels, and that was years ago.

Bonjour Sara,

Thank you for joining in and for that input.

Yes, much of the natural beauty of the Earth is being destroyed. It is a shame.

I am not quite sure what the answer is.

As it says above, love for our planet is certainly one of the answers.

There is still time to sort this. We need more recruits, more loving consciousness, but it is possible.

Thank you for sharing.

Angel cuddles,
Sarah

Bonjour Mother Earth Gardeners, one and all,

We have been enjoying wonderful weather here. I have managed to start on my veg patch.
David mixed ash and Polly and Loupio's dung into the soil and it is much better this year. So I have high hopes.

I have salad plants in. Raddish and brussel plants are growing from seed in the veg patch. I have been growing plants from seed in the greenhouse ready. There are courgette plants, spaghetti courges, and cucumber plants growing. They will soon be ready to go in the veg patch.

I also have some flowers growing from seed in the greenhouse, ready to go in the garden and add a splash of colour. However, I lost some overnight. I walked in the greenhouse and shock horror!!!! Lots of plants were gone and there were the dreaded snail trails. I was sad.

Never mind, these things happen. But any hints on snails would be appreciated. I don't fancy eating them, by the way.

Well, my dears, that is a quick update on my garden.

Happy gardening.

Angel cuddles,

Sarah

Bonjour again!

For those of you who are wondering what a spaghetti courge is, voilà:

Spaghetti courge

And this is what it looks like once you have cooked it:

The spaghetti squash (Cucurbita pepo) (also called vegetable spaghetti, noodle squash, spaghetti marrow (in the UK), squaghetti , gold string melon (金糸瓜 (kinshi uri) in Japanese) or fish fin melon (魚翅瓜/鱼翅瓜 (yú chì guā)) in Chinese) is an oblong seed-bearing variety of winter squash. The fruit can range either from ivory to yellow or orange in color or green with white streaks. Its center contains many large seeds. Its flesh is bright yellow, and orange or white for the latter variety. When raw, the flesh is solid and similar to other raw squash; when cooked, the flesh falls away from the fruit in ribbons or strands like spaghetti.

Your mission is to find out how to cook it, ha ha.

Angel cuddles,
Sarah
