Hello My Dear Sara !

Sometimes it is easy for men to forget about this disease until someone close goes through the treatment and then it really wakes you up. All cancer is unacceptable and men and woman alike are targets of the bullet. Hopefully it will not be much longer before they find a cure !

Hi Nick,

Awesome poem my friend , I would also like to include in your forum here that Though far less common than in women, it is possible for men to develop breast cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 1,450 new cases of invasive breast cancer are diagnosed in men each year and approximately 470 men die from breast cancer annually. Male breast cancers account for approximately 1% of all breast cancer cases.

Thank You Nick Gods speed :-) Lee

I live in a kind of controlled awareness. I wouldn't call it fear, but it's an awareness. I know I have a responsibility to behave in a certain way. I'm able to do that.

Dearest Nick-

Thank yyou for the lovely flowers!!!  And in my favorite color, no less!!!

I just wanted to add that it is true, men do get breast cancer... and sadly, their mortality rate is much higher than women, for several reasons - men rarely do monthly self-exams, they rarely get a mommogram, and men are more likely to "put off" going to their physician when something is awry.

The best defense in beating breast cancer, for the moment, is early detection - hence the saying "early detection is your best protection".

We spend a considerable amount of time raising awareness for both men & women.  My best advice - KNOW YOUR BODY....  know what is "normal" and what is "ABNORMAL" for you...  check yourself, every month...  stay diligent... and when something's just "not right", call your physician... do not hesitate...

At each fundraising event, we give out hundreds of pamphlets & flyers on how to do a self-exam....  If anyone would like this informational pamphlet from Susan G Komen for the Cure, just e-mail me at 3daywalker@cfl.rr.com and I will send it to you in pdf format.

In strength, courage, hope and faith that the cure will be found because...

EVERYONE DESERVES A LIFETIME!

Your friend,

JeanMarie
