Hi Margaret, thank you so much for stopping by. I was just fixing to call it a night. You are welcome to add as much as you like!

Matthew 7:12 (The Golden Rule) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Being a Christian, being Christ Like, or a foot step follower of the Christ.

Jesus explains the difference between what was expected of God's people, the Jews, and what is now expected of Christians starting in Matthew chapter 5.  The serman on the mount is well known by many who claim to be Christian and many who do not claim to be Christian.

In Matthew 5:17 Jesus explains "Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets.  I came not to destroy but to fulfill;"   Jesus then goes on to compare the 10 Commandments and other Jewish Laws with this new fulfilled Law and explain the difference.   An example of this is at Matthew 5:38,39  "You heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.'   However, I say to you:  Do not resist him that is wicked; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other also to him.'"

Unfortunately many who call themselves Christian's today seem to follow the old jewish law while forgeting Jesus' newer, softer, more gentle teachings.

1 John 3: 23  Indeed, this is  his (God's) commandment, that we have faith in the name of his (God's) Son Jesus Christ and be loving one another, just as he (Jesus) gave us commandment.  Yes, Jesus explained in his many teachings the commandment of Love which is the "newer fulfilled law" of God.  This commandment of Love is referred to many times in the New Testament scriptures.

Jesus teachings were simple; too simple for a complex society like the Jews to understand.   Most Jews expected more complex laws, they were used to the Old Laws which did not really address the heartfelt changes necessary to meet what Jesus explained as the Fulfilled Law, aka the Commandment of Love

He who does not understand Love can not practice this newer fulfilled law, expecially if he is too proud to ask God to help him learn what this Love is.

May you have peace,

Vel

Dear James, i wrote a prayer for you as well as me. I was just looking through your posts and thought of his. I was reading the book of Hebrews 8:1-13 .           Dear Father, the Majesty of heaven,

Thank you that in Jesus we have a totally understanding and
merciful High Priest. He has your authority, seated at the right
hand of the throne of your majesty in heaven, a minister in the
sanctuary and true tabernacle which was set up by you, not men.

Thank you that the new covenant we have through him is superior to
the old covenant in that it is written on our hearts and minds.

I want to know you, O God. I want to obey you. I want to spend my
life in your service and eternity in your glory.

Remove my wickedness and remember my sins no more.

In the name of your holy Son, whose blood has bought my
forgiveness, I pray. Amen.   Your doing a great thread here James keep the Faith! God_bless you.  Thomas

James,

I just wanted to add a comment here for Geketa's sake from this quote you posted:

Galatians 6:7   "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."  Below is the story of what happened to those who mocked God:

She then went on to point out several people who "mocked" God and then met untimely deaths shortly thereafter.  Well, the truth is, God had absolutely nothing to do with their deaths.  The Bible says in this regard:

James 1:13, "When under trial, let no one say: "I am being tried by God." For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone."

Satan is the source of all evil.  So, you see, God is not responsible for anyone's untimely death.  That is another one of christendom's false teachings, along with sayings like, "God took your loved one because he needed another angel in heaven."   It is lies like this that not long ago caused a little 8 year old girl to walk out in front of a speeding train and kill herself, because her priest had told her God had taken her mother to heaven, and she wanted to join her.  How sad, and how untrue.  That little girl and her mother are not in heaven, but are simply asleep in the grave, awaiting Jesus' promised resurrection back to a paradise earth.  This is what the Bible REALLY teaches, and is easily proven through scriptures.  And God will hold these false teachers accountable for misleading their flocks, as they of all people should know the truth.

It's late, so I'll close with the hope that all will come to know what God's will is for them, and that's found at 1,2,3,4, that is, easy to remember, 1 Tim. 2:3&4, which says, "This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, whose will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth."  The emphasis there being on the word accurate!
