SMALL ACTIONS DONE CONSISTENTLY CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE
7/31/2007 5:17:18 AM

YOUR INFLUENCE

Give, and you will have. Teach, and you will learn. Listen, and you will be understood. Live with kindness, and kindness will live with you.

Respect, and you will be respected. Be truthful, and it will be nearly impossible for others to deceive you.

Keep a generous spirit, and your life will be filled with abundance. Seek to bring out the best in others, and they'll give you the best that they have.

Give your genuine encouragement to those who thirst for it most, and you'll be encouraged beyond all measure. Speak positively of your world, and your world will be a rich and fulfilling place.

The world you influence with your thoughts, words and actions is the world in which you live. Always be your best, and that world is a great place to be.

**************************************

HOW ARE YOU?

The words you use make a difference. When you say something often enough to yourself or to others, it becomes a part of who you are. When someone greets you and asks how you are, do you respond with cheerful enthusiasm? Or are you in the habit of expressing to others how dreary and uninspired you feel?

It may not seem like much, yet the way you respond when someone casually asks how you are can have an enormous impact on your life. For when you say something out loud about the way you feel, about the way your life is going, it suddenly becomes a part of your reality.

You may or may not believe what others say about you. Yet you most certainly do believe, at a very deep level, the things you say about yourself.

When someone asks you how you are, that person is giving you an opportunity to strengthen and bring to the forefront the positive aspects of your life. Even if you're feeling a little down, just by smiling and saying that things are going great, you begin to make that your reality.

The way you think and talk about yourself will have an enormous influence on they way your life progresses. Take every opportunity to make that influence a positive, enthusiastic and supportive one.

***************************************

 ATTITUDE AND EXPERIENCE

Attitude and experience Perhaps you think that your attitude on any particular day depends on the things you experience that day. But actually it is the other way around. The things you experience do not cause you to have a particular attitude. Instead , the quality and substance of your experiences are what reveal your attitude.

Your attitude is yours to choose. And by choosing your attitude, you can choose the kind of life you live.

Yes, there will be plenty of events coming along that are completely beyond the control of you or your attitude. Yet your attitude will most definitely determine how you experience each of those events.

If your attitude is negative and destructive, you'll find pain, disappointment and dismay in even the most wonderful circumstances. Yet when your attitude is positive, creative, thankful and joyful, you'll find real hope and valuable possibilities in even the most unfortunate events.

Rather than assuming that your attitude is dictated by events, choose to maintain a positive attitude no matter what may come along. By so doing, you'll be choosing a life of real value and meaning.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

Love Marilyn

It is a pleasure to read your post. They reflect the way I try to live my life everyday, go out of your way to make someone elses day better and it will make a better day for all.

Your attitude is impressive and I hope we can be lifelong friends.

Dear Marilyn,

This collection of wisdom comes to me as I am taking a day off from what has inadvertently become a landscape/neighbor design project.

The larger project, which began a year ago, was to "wave and smile" to everyone who passes by the house.

As, at that time the faces that passed by were terrible contortions of pain, uncertainty and frustrations - filled with challenges and obstacles at every turn.

This year, as my garden has finally begun to take shape -reclaimed from the flood waters and debris-I have begun to notice that as people approach my little oasis in the middle of the block-they look up-smiling and looking for me in order to wave, smile and send me a gracious good morning!

They are old, young, thuggish and petite-this has become a miracle of love's reward.

Thank you for your ongoing encouragement.

p.s.-when I complained to my daughter that my pictures don't look nearly as beautiful as what I see when I look out-she gently reminded me that I am still seeing what it is going to be.

Hello Marilyn

Thanks for the great post and wisdom. Small actions done consistently lead to big changes. Each day I set aside ten minutes to do something that would really better my life. Those things are simple: making sure my desk is tidy, organizing a file,
cutting some flowers and making a flower arrangement for the house. It is really amazing what happens with even ten minutes a day.

The other aspect , doing small kindnesses for others , has a huge impact beyond what we ever get to see.

Which brings me to your post Joyce. A garden created from Katrina's devastating wake, is like a promise of renewal in all things. People walking by take hope from that and begin to look at recreating their lives again. You will never know the full impact of what you are doing in changing the conditions of other people's lives.

As for your Daughter: she is very perceptive. In a way all gardening is like that, seeing what is going to be. Gardening is a wonderful metaphor for the power of visualization. A garden is someones manifestation of their visualization.

We need to hear more about what you are doing.
