Dear John & Pauline ... its still morning at my house and here I am sitting in my night clothes, typing on my computer, tears rolling down my face and feeling like a QUEEN!
To the two of you again, my sincere THANKS. You are GREATLY APPRECIATED!
This is for you
How Great Thou Art - Elvis Presley
The Impossible Dream
Speaking of queen, I wrote this poem many years ago and thought I would share it with you.
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Terry
Pageant
I was ten years plus five many moons ago,
Country girl, plain and skinny, just an ordinary Joe,
Early flowers, grass just green, spring was in the air
Time to find contestants for queen of our Fall Fair.
I was asked to be Miss Country Corner Store
It had been a dream, who could ask for more?
Laughing and singing, dancing on clouds
Forgetting all about being scared of crowds.
I possessed no talents, couldn't carry a tune
What would I do? Feeling like a goon
Then a flicker of light, Dusty came to mind!
Doing well in his classes he would be kind...
There were rehearsals, learning to stand straight and tall
Learning to walk gracefully so we wouldn't fall.
Then the night to be judged - who would be queen?
Girls in their Sunday best, to each differently it would mean.
The honor and prestige the crown and cape hold
Tho' that's unimportant; so we were told!
Shaking in my shoes it became my turn
And time for Dusty to do as he'd learned.
Now to enlighten you - Dusty was a dog
When he saw the people he was in a fog -
And there was my speech - how a dog should act
He ignored me - like I didn't know the facts!
A fairy tale it wasn't, no Cinderella I became
But I'll never forget the night
I played the Queen Contestant game!
