Thank you very much for this forum...it is very informative and well written. I do have a question for you though. Is it considered spamming if a person is sending out a few different posts from their OWN forum in a single day, and it doesn't fall under the categories you mentioned above?

Hi Marilyn,

You ask if it's from your OWN forum would it be Spam. Reading again what is from Wiki it refers to others entering a forum they do not control and placing Spam.

If you create the topic that is about a program or service then that's the discussion topic and no other offer should be mentioned. Exception. Place your ads here thread. Then it clearly states you can place an ad in the thread.

To your question on losing rank.

This is possible if you are using someone elses adcopy. If you are the author you stand a better chance at not being punished by the search engines.

Folding up the tent. You are right on this when respect is lost. The other side to this is when a person has gained a following and those followers see it and think it's ok not knowing any better or copping out saying everyone else is doing it. I call this "running through Stop Signs just became legal because everyone's doing it". Many people will just see how far they can get away with it before something is done.

If you can moderate and delete the Spam, yes, do so in a polite manner. If not and it becomes bad report it.

I couldn't agree with you more.  Not only has forum spamming reached staggering heights, but so has just about every other avenue of Adland. 

Invites to be friends, and emails have gotten way out of hand.

My time at Adland has been cut down significantly due to all the spamming.
