Thank you Luella and John for another wonderful forum!

I have always admired
Amelia Earhart and felt she was one of the greatest INSPIRATIONS to women (and all of mankind) that ever lived.

I just roared when I read this paragraph and how it says, "they even characterized her............."  lol

A spirit of adventure seemed to abide in the Earhart children with the pair setting off daily to explore their neighborhood for interesting and exciting pursuits. As a child, Amelia spent long hours playing with Pidge, climbing trees, hunting rats with a rifle and "belly-slamming" her sled downhill. The girls kept "worms, moths, katydids and a tree toad" in a growing collection gathered in their outings. Some biographers have even characterized the young Amelia as a tomboy.

Can you even imagine what an active neighborhood this may have been?  I really enjoyed reading this side of her that I had never known before.

She will always live in our hearts as a woman of courage and an incredible inspiration.  I just wish the outcome of her flight had been incredibly different.

Thank you for sharing  :-)

Bless you,  Jill

Hello Jill!

I enjoyed reading about her childhood too.  That's why I just had to include it.  It gives us a glimpse at Amelia the child, who was indeed a tomboy.  A child that had that special spark, that sense of adventure.  What I thought was wonderful was that her mother encouraged it, helping her to achieve her dream.  How many of us as children were told that we could never achieve our dream?  Too many, I'm afraid.

Hugs!

Hi Luella,

Amelia Earhart layed the foundation for all women to follow.

Be brave and be bold, and don't allow anyone to tell you, you can't do it.

Thank you.

Your Good Friend
