Thank you Luella and John for another wonderful forum!
I have always admired Amelia Earhart and felt she was one of the greatest INSPIRATIONS to women (and all of mankind) that ever lived.
I just roared when I read this paragraph and how it says, "they even characterized her............." lol
A
spirit of adventure seemed to abide in the Earhart children with the
pair setting off daily to explore their neighborhood for interesting
and exciting pursuits. As a child, Amelia spent long hours playing with
Pidge, climbing trees, hunting rats with a rifle and "belly-slamming"
her sled downhill. The girls kept "worms, moths, katydids and a tree
toad" in a growing collection gathered in their outings. Some
biographers have even characterized the young Amelia as a tomboy.
Can you even imagine what an active neighborhood this may have been? I really enjoyed reading this side of her that I had never known before.
She will always live in our hearts as a woman of courage and an incredible inspiration. I just wish the outcome of her flight had been incredibly different.
Thank you for sharing :-)
Bless you, Jill
