To strengthen and recondition your mind you need to work it out every day. If you don’t use it you’ll lose it. Just like the muscles in your body, your mind muscle needs rest. This is when the work you’ve done really sinks in and changes the way you think. So, the most effective ways to nurture your mind are learning and meditating.
When I say learning I’m talking about conditioning your mind through books, CDs, audiotapes, lectures and classes. There is so much information out there, so much to learn. Challenge yourself every day to learn something new. Start with your business. Read everything you can on the subject – shoot for reading one book a week.
CDs and audiotapes are great for when you’re driving to work, traveling or working out. Buy the CDs and/or audiotapes of your favorite motivational speaker or mentor and set aside an hour every day to listen to them. If you don’t think you have an hour to spare, then make time - wake up an hour earlier every day. And when you see that speaker or mentor is coming to town to speak – sit in on the lecture or class. You can never learn too much.
Once you're working out your mind on a daily basis, you’ll need to give it some deep relaxation. Think about how your body feels when it’s exhausted.
It gets weary and tired. It can’t function properly. Your mind is the same way. Look for meditation CDs and audiotapes. There are some great ones out there. Pop them into your CD/tape player and allow your brain to zone out.
Your body and mind will thank you in ways you’ve never imagined. You’ll be more energetic. You’ll think more clearly. And your million-dollar ideas will multiply.
God wants to talk to each of us; we merely need to start the conversation in prayer and meditation and patiently listen.
