Tacky Email
2/17/2007 10:20:47 PM
Hi friends, It is a real pain in the neck to have to get past all those email addresses when trying to read something if something has been forwarded several times. You could theoretically have hundreds to get past. It’s not fair to the people whose email address you are exposing to the world, and certainly isn’t appreciated by the person receiving it. One way to get rid of all the extra junk (addresses, comments, etc) when you forward an e-mail, is to copy and paste the part you wanted into a new e-mail - then send it. Another way is to forward the e-mail first, then before sending it, delete out all the addresses, etc., before you hit send. It is considered really "tacky" to forward everything, including the names and email addresses of everyone else, who has received it. In a PERFECT world where everyone had a BCC they could use & where ALL e-mails were such they could be copied and pasted, what you ask may be possible. Only we do not live in a perfect world and some of us do NOT have a BCC function. And there are e-mails which we can NOT copy and paste. Neil

AND, I forgot to say, calling those e-mails tacky IS TACKY! I forward and/or send thing to more than FOUR HUNDRED people and I have been sending them to most of those people for well over five years. MANY of them I send have more than a few address on them. IF people do not want me to send them e-mails with a bunch of e-mail address on them, all they have to do is ASK me to remove them from my mailing lists. Neil

Leanne,

I have my email set up to send those to my spam folder. I also forward & then highlight & delete the addresses that are on the original message. I use Outlook & Outlook Express & then I can blind out others address.

Have a super day,

Sheryl
