Hello everyone! This is my first post and already I have learned a lot, about what not to do and how to proceed with caution.
I few people have mentioned that they have had some success but not all of them have revealed what plan or opportunity worked for them. Am I missing something?
The common point seems to be sell something real that the average person can and will use. And I think that we are all 'preaching to the choir' because we are probably all a member of the same set of Biz Ops for the most part and we should focus on the general public to be successful.
Does anyone think it's possible to collectively come up with a plan that can be marketed as a group to the masses?
I'm a programmer / consultant and have worked for B.P./SAIC and Arco (before they were sold to Conoco Phillips) here in Anchorage, Alaska. And I'm happy to say that I have only wasted $70 in useless programs before I realized that the only people making money are those that are selling the plans!
I also Co-Host a radio show on KNBA 90.3 FM here in Anchorage (Public Radio), provide DJ & Live Sound support for the Muni and others organizations.
This led me to develop a program for radio stations and DJ's that solves a problem they all have. The point is that I saw a genuine need and filled it with a real product that people actually want to buy. Isn't that the key to sales, filling a need in the marketplace?
How many of us need 15 or 20 'Make $5,000 a Month' plans that cost us more than they pay. But you can't argue that there are lots of people that will spend from $7.00 all the way up to $97.00 and more to see if it works.
Since we ar so concerned with numbers, shouldn't we look behind the curtain and see how much money Oz is making before we spend our hard earned dollars?
My Ex-Girlfriend (who has a Spending Disorder) is trying to sell Herbalife. I asked her if she did her market research before committing $200 for membership and $2,700.00 in product just to become a 'Supervisor'.
I found out by doing some reearch that Nutri-System clients stay on that program for an average of 4 months before they drop. That lets you know the type of effort you have to make to keep the dollars rolling in.
From what I'm hereing her on this forum, most people stay with these plans about 6 months or less and then drop them. And Pay=Per-Click is just too expensive compared to other forms of advertising when you are starting out and don't have money to burn.
Have any of you ever ran those Money-Making sites through a Meta-Tag Checker or Keyword Density Checker? Most of them fail miserably! Even the ones that offer those tools as part of the Free Tools they use to lure you in.
And like many others here, I care about my clients and don't want to stiff them. I know I wouldn't like it to be sold a bill of goods and spend more than I make.
On the other hand, there are new people everyday that come into the fold and are excited about getting into this business.
This is where I am torn. I have found a way to offer a service that everyone here needs and uses in one form or another, but most people are made to believe that getting your hands dirty means that your working too hard when you should do your due diligence BEFORE you spend any money.
Do I put this product / service out and take advantage of those that haven't learned their lesson or am I selling a service / product to responsible people and let the buyer beware. Becaue if I don't, then someone else will eventually.
I have been inspired to write my first ebook with the working title: Internet Riches For Serious Gardeners. The basically premise is that in order to do anything that works, you have to have the skillset, desire and proper tools to be successful.
If your a 5 Star Cook and you can't manage money or know how to market yourself, how successful can you be?
I wrote DJPrinter because as a DJ and a Mix Show Producer, it's a pain in the ass to have to go back and listen to my show so that I can write down all the songs I played to report to BMI and ASCAP. This is a bigger problem for Club and Mobile DJ's then Radio Stations, but there are lots of radio stations that fill out their BMI Radio Logs by hand or use MS Word without a template.
Now with DJ Printer, you can either pick the show ahead of time or as you review the show you can tag the songs in DJPrinter and when your done you just select from a variety of reports and click on the print button.
Anoth Senario is when doing Weddings. How many people have asked their DJ if they have the songs you want played at the reception only to find out that it's not the right Artist or version? Now with DJPrinter you can, as a DJ, provide your client with a list of your music in print, PDF or HTML for posting to a website.
A need was identified and a solution was created and provide to a willing market that can't get this feature set anywhere else.
I find it strange that with all of the Pay-Per-Click and Keyword buyers here that there are not more SEO plans and services being sold here. Without your web pages propertly tweaked, you are throwing away money. I am redoing all of my pages before I resubmit my sites to the search engines. And know that it's better to submit to Yahoo and Google manually to get the best rating (in my opinion).
Here's some proof of that. This is a combination of research before action and a bit of creativity. I also sell Body Oils (women love it! I love women) and I created a company called softScents AromaOlis & Dreams. If you go to Google and Yahoo and type in softscents you will see that without buying any keywords or doing any pay=per-click, I am the first 3 to 5 listing on that word. There are others that use that word in one form or another in their product text but they appear on pages 2 and beyond.
I make more sales on the other products in the store than I do the oils because people impulse buy the crystal that's on the front page of the store. And the store is ugly to me but I haven't taken the time to sweeten it.
I say all of this to say that a team effort with a unique and / or much needed product or service should be the focus for all of us and we should focus out attention on Blogs, forums, and other social sites that the buying public frequent. I don't know too many salespeople that like to buy from salespeople.
Since they know the ins and outs of the business, they make the worst customers! And with all of the conflicting information out here, it would be nice to have a forum topic that supported info and wisdom that actually leads to a product or service all of us can profit from.
I know that this post/rant has taken a few turns but I hope that the bottom line could be that we could get together and share knowledge to help us sell our widgets to the buying public and stop this shark eat shark type of actions.
That may be a crude way of looking at it and I plan to post all of my affiliate URL's in my ADS section on this site because that is what this is about but I know that unless I offer something different and useful, it will be a typing exercise.
