Re: Advertising - To Ad or Not to Ad...That is the question.

Hi Linda,

Well, even before I ran my payment I did what everyone should do. I checked on them, how long the site's been up, did a search online for anything that hinted any customer dissatisfaction, etc..

That being good, I went ahead with an inexpensive package, and all went very smoothly. Confirmation emails were sent, and everything works on the site as promised. I can login and check the status and the stats of the campaign very easily.
So for all that, I would say at least they are professional and their system is solid.
Now for the results, which have yet to come in, have no fear I will post my findings, though judging from my findings so far, I'm pretty sure they will come through with their promises.

Actual results from the mailing pretty much depend on where I've directed people to go and how well that site will convert. I selected the Health & Nutrition box and the list will be sent this link My Sample Pack which is a great offer that has been converting very well for us.
We will know over the next week or so how the mailout performs and if Rent-A-List actually fulfills the guarantee's setout in our contract.
When I know, you'll know, so stay tuned :-)

Best regards,

Hi everyone,

I'm posting to report on the results we've compiled to date from the advertising with Rent-A-List

At this point we have received 1101 hits from the 2000 targeted email package on this site MySamplePack (the guarantee was 1000), and the response from those 1101 hits  to date are as follows:

1101 responded by clicking through to the site

65 of those were captured as leads (emails)
23 of which entered more information (email, phone, personal data)
3 of which ordered directly from the site

While we don't have a direct ROI with this advertiser, we can extrapolate the response rate of the advertising:

To Date
Response rate: 5.9% became leads
Higher quality leads: 2.1%
Actual customers: .27%

CPL (cost per lead - at regular pricing) on this advertising to date: $2.76

This low response rate might suggest a slightly tired list (receiving too many offers over short periods of time) and the cost per lead is high in my opinion, but then too we have to consider PPC rates for the keywords "diets" "weight-loss" and similar keywords which would be much higher.
(I'm working with some other people on a system to produce CPL that will be more in the 1/10 or 1/100 of a $1 range)

We also paid for a Stand alone ad to 200,000, but apparently that ad has not been run yet as we aren't able to read any stats, nor have we had extra traffic to the site Here

I'm reserving immediate judgement on Rent-A-List for the time being until all the figures are in.

I hope more people will consider this kind of honest reporting on their advertising success rates to the benefit of all.

To our mutual success!

Hey Tim, I definitely agree with the challenges of effective advertising. Having an effective ad is like hitting the Jack Pot, or the Lottery. Thanks for the info.
