AN IRISH TOAST

May you be poor in misfortune,

Rich in blessings,

SLOW to make enemies,

QUICK to make friends,

but, Rich or Poor,

Quick or Slow,

May you know nothing but HAPPINESS,

From this day forward!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S Day!
From Blue Mountain Cards

The Bible has many things to say about being happy and rejoicing, or being glad.
"Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart."[i] Psalm 32:11 ESV

[i]"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice."[i] Philippians 4:4

These are but two such passages. The Bible also warns us to be careful where we look for happiness and success. [i]"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death."[i] Proverbs 14:12

Go forward and seek to be happy; just be very wary of the approach you take.

Have a great day,

Mike

DECIDE TO BE HAPPY

All of life is about decisions. We decide when to get up and when to go to bed. We choose between fast food and home cooking. We may prefer to pay bills on line over mailing the payments. Did you know that we may also choose to be happy….or not?

We all have setbacks in life that can be devastating. Whether we’re aware of it or not, we do choose either to allow the misfortune to defeat us or become an obstacle that we will overcome. Satan pounces on us when these troubles come into our lives. He delights in seeing us suffer (i.e. Job) and uses our suffering in attempts to move us from God.

Where do we turn to ward off the wiles of the devil? There is nowhere we may look with more help than God’s word. There are several we could focus on this time of year that can divert our attention to brighter days. Here is but one of those. “For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come.” SONG OF SOLOMON 2:11-12 KJV

Robert Louis Stevenson is quoted as saying: “There is no duty we so much underrate as the duty of being happy. By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world.”

May you and I work harder at being happy. Perhaps we keep looking in all the wrong places.

To your happiness,

Mike

The Cracked Pot

A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master’s house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water in his master’s house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you."
"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?"
"I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your masters house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts,” the pot said.
The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master’s house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."
Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again the Pot apologized to the bearer for its failure.
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot’s side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master’s table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."

Each of us has our own unique flaws. We’re all cracked pots. But if we will allow it, the Lord will use our flaws to grace His Father’s table. In God’s great economy, nothing goes to waste. Don't be afraid of your flaws. Acknowledge them, and you too can be the cause of beauty. Know that in our weakness we find our strength. ~Unknown
So now I must ask you and me, is that small chink in our lives such a bid deal? We should be motivated to seek out the all the “Pots” with cracks and thank them for their contribution to our world. I suspect there are far more cracked pots in existence than perfect ones. If your goal is perfection you are bound to fall short. Be the best you can be, no more, no less.

Here’s something that shows God's awesome creation.....This will Amaze You!!..........

For all the scientists out there and for all the Students who have a hard time convincing these people regarding the truth of the Bible, here’s something that shows God's awesome creation, and that He is still in control.

Did you know that the space program is busy proving that what has been called “myth" in the Bible is true?
Mr. Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore, Maryland, and a consultant in the space program, relates the following development.

I think one of the most amazing things that God has done for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland.
They were checking out where the positions of the sun, moon, and planets would be 100 years and 1,000 years from now. We have to know this so we won't send up a satellite and have it bump into something later on in its orbits.

We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down.

They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries, and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was something wrong with either the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards.

They called in the service department to check it out, and they said, 'What's wrong?' Well, they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time.
They scratched their heads and tore their hair out. There was no answer.

Finally a Christian man on the team said, 'You know, one time I was in Sunday school, and they talked about the sun standing still.' While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said, 'Show us'. He got a Bible and went to the book of Joshua where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with 'common sense.

There they found the Lord saying to Joshua, ‘Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not a man of them stand before Thee.'
Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy! And if darkness fell, they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! That's right... 'The sun stood still and the moon stayed and lasted not to go down about a whole day!' (Joshua 10:12-13)

The astronauts and scientists said there is the missing day! They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back Joshua’s day was 23 hours and 20 minutes. Not a whole day.

They read the Bible, and there it was about [approximately] a day. These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes, you'll still be in trouble 1000 years from now.
Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits. As the Christian employee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible where it said the sun went BACKWARDS.

The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Book and read these words in 2 Kings that told of the following story:
Hezekiah, on his death bed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof.
Isaiah said 'Do you want the sun to go ahead 10 degrees?'

Hezekiah said, 'It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees.' Isaiah spoke to the Lord, and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD! Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes!
Twenty-three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe! Isn't it amazing? ~Unknown origin. (I make no claims as to the accuracy of the preceding statements. I have shared them to provoke thought). The Bible, however, speaks for itself and I will not tamper with it!

References: Joshua 10:8 and 12, 13 and 2 Kings 20:9-11.

If God could do this then; how much more can he do for us today if we only believe in his word? The skeptic scientists often set out to disprove the Bible and end up confirming the truth.

My God is alive,

Mike
