Though the speech of that day used the word men...the point was this: whoever we associate ourselves with should be people of quality & high standards, and when we do otherwise we run the risk of corrupting our own standard of ethics, as the saying goes "bad company corrupts good morals". Though I am fairly new at posting in adland forums, I am so glad to see that this is a community of people with great ethics and real concern for others.
