Pauline,
I knew I would need tissues on hand to read your father's day message. As a child of a single mother, I took special pains to make sure my children experienced a father, as I had not had that.
On my daughter's 16th birthday, her dad-(we were divorced since she wa in the womb)-serenaded her by playing piano and singing "Happy Birthday Sweest 16". I cried so much because when I had given custody to the father, I had prayed that my daughter would be validated as special by the first man in her life.
He still stops by her store to take her to lunch, turning heads being escorted by such a distinguished gentleman!
Your relationship with your Dad warms my heart as well.
