Geketa, that is an excellent question. It's for that reason I have chosen to be in the Air Ambulance business. I don't feel that helping those who are sick or suffering would in any way jeapordize my relationship with Christ.
It is also for that reason that I do not work for the airlines. It was a tough choice for me, as I could be flying a Boeing 747 for some airline and flying all over the world at this point in time had I taken a job like that.
It is a tough decision to make the choice not to work on the Sabbath. It takes backbone. I will admit there have been times when I worked on Sabbath doing things I felt uncomfortable with. Fortunately my conscience made me feel guilty enough that I couldn't do it again!
I have found that when you are up front with an employer when you first go to work for them, and tell them your beliefs, they should honor them, as we live in a country that honors religious freedom.
I used to work for a company that flew on the Sabbath, and what I did was trade days with either the Director of Operations or another Captain when my days coincided with working on Sabbath. It worked out great, until the company went out of business.
