Re: Racism, the holy grail of ignorance

Dear Dave, I guess I am in the dark about this rascist thing you are all talking about but to be sure I have been raised to believe ALL men are equal and subject to God's laws! There are no races in heaven and we are all God's children! I hope that someday everyone will love each other not looking to see what color, sex or church  affiliation they have! Peace begins with each and everyone of us in how we act, how we look and how we talk! So lets get some peace in here and start acting the way we should!

As Always, God Bless!

Sincerly, Susan

Hi Dave:

===================
I hope the future brings greater understanding, less hatred, and a dramatic decline in the ignorance that birthed the original idea of "race."
===================

Well spoken, as usual. There is another human trait that is just as vile as racism and that's to stifle another person's words because we don't agree.

There is an old saying that says:
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Note: The quotation was attributed to Voltaire, but was actually said by Evelyn Beatrice Hall in "Friends of Voltaire" [published 1906] as a paraphrase of Voltaire's thoughts on free speech.

There is a lesson most of us were taught as children. if you don't like it, you do not have to participate.

If we could not talk about anything that might upset *any* another person, then there is NOTHING left to talk about. We might as well shut the doors and send everyone home so they can revel in only their own opinions.

Linda

Hi John, You are right about the state of our planet - it is a little messy and a little more than messy in some locations. You said, "I don't think we should be discussing this what we should be worried about is the state of our planet, we all live on that little blue coloured ball in space and we are gradually destroying our own existance!" I believe that the very state of our planet should cause us all the more to strive to get along and get along well. As long as we continue to see "them" as the enemy and "us" as having a special right to life, liberty and happiness, while "they" should stay put and leave us alone, we will NOT solve the problems of clean air, clean water, food, shelter and poverty. We need to learn to get along as a global community before we are able to work together to solve the environmental and economic challenges facing us. God bless, Dave

Hi Susan, Yes, our community here IS a cross-section of the global community, and together we have the ability to be a small example of what the world SHOULD be like! God bless, Dave
