Thanks, Nick! I love all kinds of humor, from the gross and scary, to ridiculous or slightly offensive, laughing is good for our health!
Thanks also to Katherine for providing the basis of the holiday. For those from other countries...Halloween has evolved into the biggest holiday spending time for Americans, from costumes for kids and adults, outdoor and indoor decorations, pumpkin-carving, and of course, the candy, caramel apples, cider, and parties!
The night before Halloween is known as Devil's Night or Mischief Night and can be as mundane as throwing toilet paper into trees, soaping peoples car windows, or egging cars, or as terrible as setting fires or leaving flaming bags of poo on peoples porches then ringing the doorbell and watching from behind a bush while the home-owner stomps out the flaming poo. Maybe I said too much, but there's more I won't mention.
The entire month of October can be creepy with falling leaves, darkness coming sooner, the wind blowing, scarecrows forming creepy shadows in the moonlight. When my son was younger he refused to do his paper route during October by himself, I had to go with him, things do look creepy when you know Halloween is coming.
Now there's a new generation of parents who want it moved to a Saturday night instead of on the day of the 31st, and our daylight-savings-time has been moved back this year to provide an extra hour of light for the end of October...what next? Prohibiting scary costumes or creepy decorations?
